    Re: Xbox One

I'm transitioning my sons room from a "kid" room, to a "young mans" room. Anyway, I found an XB1S on Amazon for 160$. I'm going to put it in his room. He has his own profile on my 1X that he plays on. My question is, will we need another xbox live subscription or can he still play off mine on his console?

You can only share gold and digital games on your home console. If you set his as your home console, he can. However that does mean on other consoles you MUST be online to play your digital games.

Which gets me to another point. In your Microsoft profile, you can set up to 10 devices as yours. I have three PCs in my house as my devices. All windows games (namely from play anywhere Xbox games) that I own can be played by anyone on any of these PCs...all I have to do is put the others in my family. Would be nice if the same could be done for multiple Xboxes. They show in your Microsoft devices as well...but the sharing only applies to the home one.

      Maybe some day...

Yeah...I mean I pay for Game Pass and Gold, and eventually will have more than 2 Xboxes. I'll want to upgrade and move old ones to kids rooms so we have streaming/some games, but they don't even have tvs there yet (not old enough to need them). I get why they don't just open it up like that, but it would really be helpful to have more of a family thing that lets you have a few xboxes or something. Or with Gold/GamePass have specific gamertags associated to the account.

The issue is people having family or friends all over just sharing one account, so not sure the solution.

Ok, so I should set his 1S as the home console. Then, on the 1X we already have, I just log into my profile. I dont care nor play online. My son is pretty much exclusively online with Fortnite/Roblox/COD. I just want to enjoy gamepass and get ready for Gears 5.

They can share one account anyways. Log in with your account anywhere and you can play any games your profile purchased.

If you mean a single "master" account that owns the games and then add 10 Xboxes to the accounts devices...then each person that owns those 10 Xboxes could access the games, I suppose that is true. But the same can be done with the PC games. Only difference is the signed in account (which must be a MS account too) must be in the owners family.

Either way it does open up sharing of games, true. But it does now too where you can set a friends xbox as your home and whatnot. And it can be done on PC (though the windows store is rarely used for games...I only use it for game pass and play anywhere.) So I wouldn't see too much of a difference doing it on xbox. Must be on your owned devices, the account using it must be in your family.

Otherwise...they do detect other xbox ones on the network. How about say any xbox on the same internal network as your home xbox has the access? And it must be in your devices. And the account must be in your family? There could be workarounds using VPN and whatnot, but that probably would be less likely.

Yes, if you have 2 xboxes then that's the strategy.

Yeah, the issue (that I haven't had yet, but could in the future) is if both of us want to play at the same time then you can't just use the one main account.

I agree that the internal network idea is intriguing....That stuff would be awesome. I agree on all the limitations and stuff too, just not about to be buying more stuff for kids and all that.

Yeah I have been wanting this since the beginning. From the beginning it was always the gf would play on my home xbox to use my digital games and live, then I would play on hers in the other room. So one gold sub and one digital game meant playing online coop games together.

But then the xbox devices grew. Replaced the 2 originals with 2 S's. Replaced the 2 S's with 2 X's. Then got a 3rd X for the basement when I re-did all the furniture, sound system, and tv. So currently we own 7 xbox ones, 5 are connected to tvs (though only the 3 X's are really used for gaming.) My gf is forced to play in the family room every time to access the games. Then I have to be in the office or basement. No switching around for her, meaning never in the family room for me (which sucks because that's where all the best electronics are lol)

About to be my problem too. I want a S or X (or maybe just the new one next year) and I'll never sell these back (not enough value for what you get in having one). My kids can play tons of older games in the future and they'll love them.

I feel you with not being on the great screen LOL. I sneak time in the bedroom later at night right now since I never have time where I'm alone and able to really be in the living room.

No, if it was a SADX id have considered taking a one X and launch One down and traded it in.

Yeah...I just don't think there's much value now, but i could see in the future there being some amazing deals if people want additional boxes

Curious of community thoughts on visual vs. performance modes on the X.

So I just started getting into Gears 4 via Games Pass with my new X. I feel like visual modes vs. performance modes play with my brain. I can never settle on one, especially in Gears 4.

Back story, I had the X for a few months before upgrading to a 4K OLED, so performance mode on 1080 was my only option. Now that I have a 4K TV, even performance mode looks better on that. Visual mode seems just slightly brighter and more defined, but not by much. I find myself going back and forth, looking for details that don't seem that dramatic.

                            Am I alone in this?
After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!

On some games it’s a lot more noticeable than others. I haven’t tried performance on gears 4 yet.
