If he is liking it maybe the rumors of not having used games isn't true. Gamestop gets a lot of sales on used games so can't imagine him praising it if it didn't allow for used games

Either way, I can't see the CEO of gamestop liking the new xbox being a good barometer. He would end up biting one of the 3 biggest hands that feeds him (not to mention all the publishers that want this feature implemented). Bottom line Microsoft (or any other major video game company) tells Raines to jump, he'll go book a flight and buy a parachute.Last edited by iLLosophy; 04-04-2013, 08:39 AM.Comment

I think MS and Sony are tied together more than we think, so my bet is the new 720 and PS4 will be similar in most features etc, so this will all be a wash when everything is fully announced for both.Comment

Re: Xbox 720
That guy is coming off as a total dick, and given that he's pretty high up in Microsoft, the rumors of always-on are increasingly likely to be true...
The thing is, it probably isn't a big deal to 80% of the potential XBox users...but why cut out 20% or so of audience right out of the gate? Even if it's 5-10%, why do it? Also, assuming that the next Playstation and XBox are essentially identical in terms of specs, if you have a choice of 2 systems, and 1 of them doesn't require always-on internet, which one would most people choose?
I'm a longtime XBox loyalist (well, as long as it's been around...), but always-on is a deal-breaker for me. Not because I can't do it, but simply because I don't want to. Yes, the electricity goes out sometimes, as does the internet...why have another potential point of failure - not just your own internet, but Microsoft's?...What if every time there's an XBox Live outage you can't play your system at all? What if it goes down Friday evening to Monday morning, and you just got the new release of the latest game and were planning on hunkering down for the weekend with it? Honestly, it only takes 1 such occasion like that before you start to think about the non-online-requiring competition...those kinds of things have an outsized effect on your experiences with a system.Comment

Re: Xbox 720
I thought the stuff that's come out of EA and Capcom recently was entirely idiotic but this tops them all. He's high up but I must wonder how he even has a job. (again) Also managed to send the message that small cities don't matter. If you don't want any 360's sold in Blacksburg well...though with a comment like that I doubt that's his real twitter. It's not verified. I'd hope a major company wouldn't have such a fool representing them in a very public space like that.
However they've been sending that "if you're not online while paying for XBL gold too we don't want your money and you don't matter" message for quite some time on the current console.Comment

The only thing about the always online thing that gets me worried is that in the house I live in we got 3 PS3's, 3 360's, about to be 3 desktops, 3 laptops and a couple of mobile devices. As you can probably guess it puts a strain on our Internet connect so we try to disconnect what we don't use or when there's a lot of devices online already I just log on offline to play some single player games I got.
I'm worried that in such instances I be screwed.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os

No, lol. I live at my friends house so I brought the stuff I had already: 1 PS3, 360, Wii and laptop. They (my friend and his brother) already had the rest. The desktop I'm building right now so its not up yet and our other friend that doesnt live with us just leaves his 360 at the house since he is there all the time.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os

Re: Xbox 720
I've already said that I think always-online is stupid but what's funny to me is that all the people I've seen who are the most vocal in their opposition (not just here or on the internet) are people who are online every day of the week.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment
