I understand that but why not just get rid of used games instead of just putting a fee on them.

Depends on whether or not the fee is waived or not. I'm thinking it may be if that's the case.
Hopefully this fee nonsense goes away.

As previously mentioned they'll lose sales from the rental stores that often buy 2-5 copies of games.

What happens if there's an issue with your account? I've had all my saves deleted twice on the 360 too.

Face it, Google is spying on you, Facebook is spying on you and now your Xbox One is spying on you. That is the America we now live in.

I don't use or own anything Google, don't use Facebook & won't be getting an Xbox One.

              Re: Xbox One

              I don't like this:

After a Microsoft-hosted London event around the Xbox One reveal, Xbox's UK marketing director Harvey Eagle has said that the console will not function without Kinect connected.

"Kinect does require to be connected to Xbox One in all cases, yes," he said. Asked whether the Xbox One will accommodate people who perhaps play in their bedroom rather than their living room, Eagle replied: "Yes, absolutely. We use the living room almost as a moniker - that's where we assume the best screen is in the house. But if you like to play in any other room in the house, the Xbox One will deliver the same quality of experience whatever the environment."

As anyone who's ever tried to play with Kinect in an enclosed area knows, the current technology simply doesn't support it - which means that Xbox One's new Kinect sensor must be significantly different if it will work in any room in the house.
I don't like this based off the fact I don't play video games in a living room. I play on my 27" LED TV that sits on my desk that is around 2 and a half feet away from where I sit. My PC is also hooked up to it. So now I have to have Kinect plugged in all the time even though I'm never going to use it....

Well, this anti used games is not solely an XBOX thing ... after todays info/speculation, it comes clearer that PS4 will adopt a similar approach, if not the same ... maybe as stated, there is a mutual agreement to try and protect devs/publishers ... here it is what was released a back while regarding the PS4:

VP of Worldwide Studios says Sony understands secondhand market is "massively important"; full vision will become clear in "good time."

I am almost certaint they will be similar ...

Then again, dont quite understand the fee thing ...
                - in the $40s, really ?
                - a profit well over that of a new game buy and over a game sale that already gave them an earning ?
                - that range aint reasonable, at least to me ... and I am no buyer of used game, go figure ...

It may not happen immediatly, there is still many avenues left to explore when it comes to the used game market, but the consensus is there and in place now, the idea is kill the used game market completely.

By the next generation of consoles comes out, the plan is to have the entire industry going to digital downloads and not selling titles in brick and mortar stores, thus removing that aspect of the secondary market.

After letting everything sink in, I think the presentation was solid. The kinect interface and TV functionality was pretty slick. The controller looks great. I am glad to see MS is investing in new IPs for its first-party lineup.

There are still a lot cards left to be played by Microsoft and Sony. I'm still on the fence about which next-gen console I will be supporting, so E3 will be huge.

I couldn't use the Xbox One in my living room then because I have all my equipment in a media closet with my TV mounted neatly on my wall. I would have to run the Kinect cable through my walls back to the media closet for it to work and who knows if that is feasibly with the Kinect cable.

$40-$45 end user fee on the secondary market, not $40-$45 in the store. ( edit ...nothing is certainly set in stone, thats just the figure tossed around at the moment. )

I am in the industry and do this for a living. Do you?
