You can still buy the retail discs.

To those cracking jokes about PS3/PS4 users being dependent on discs to share games, you do realize that we've been able to digitally share games on the PS3 for years right? Same for DLC packs.

As well as the PSP had game sharing.

If you fail to do either of those two you will have no enjoyment out of the console you just paid $500 dollars for.
True but to play the PS4 games online won't you have to buy a PS+ membership($50) and pay for internet service as well TBH. X1 also includes a peripheral that would retail for well over $100 by itself(The current Kinect retails new at $129 I think and the 2.0 from most opinions is way better than the current one) a factor some (including myself earlier) aren't taking into consideration in regards to the high price tag. When the PS3 came out 6 years ago at $599 all you got was a controller and the system.

I was brutal on these guys initially but after thinking about it the only real issue I have on the X1 is used games/trade ins (WHICH IS HUGE) which they seem still vague about....

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

You don't need Internet or PS+ for playing games offline on the PS4. That was the point.

Yeah exactly this. I am a sports gamer so I never play online games with sports. So PS4 is a lot more ideal for me. Regardless I will be getting Xbox One eventually, but not sure when. I do like the exclusives they offer. PS4 at launch though. My only issue is the check in thing. Other than that I like both consoles.

Oh. My bad Enigma. It seems like most people here at OS game online with their consoles so acting like there were no other costs in regards to getting the most out of the ps4 seemed a little sly. No disrespect to you or the poster I initially responded to. If you want to play BF4, Call of Duty, Killzone online as well as your singleplayer offline experiences you will need to shell out more cash for ps4(Nothing I would have a problem with doing as I did for XLIVE).
Also, wouldn't you need the internet anyway to download any needed patches for these games anyway?

Im trying, its really tough though. Tough to find reliable information because so many people are so dug in to their console of choice, and ignore facts and just rant on and on about why MS or Sony is better, blah blah blah... I just want the real information, so I can use it, and figure out which works best for me. Hell, I bought an original Xbox at the time that PS2 was all the rage... Its just what i wanted, and that was that. I try and ignore hype and marketing, and just go with what's going to work best for me. I'd like to stay with Xbox for halo, I just dont know if one game is going to make it worthwhile for me... even though they don't sound so bad anymore...

That is the issue. Each to their own though. The xbone looked good and had impressive exclusives. No need to bash either console IMO.
Ive never really sold on Ebay or anything. I've only bought a few used games actually too... I just normally buy sports games, and re-sell them when ive had enough of them before the new ones come out, so whatever I get for them is good enough for me. Believe me, I'm not trying to bash any console. Im open to both, been an Xbox player all along, just trying to see whats going to be best for me...

Then again, there are people that decide that even if not affected by these restrictions, their sole existance and the fact that many others are affected (i.e. me), is worth enough for not choosing the system, specially when the alternate option not only does not has such restrictions but it has the potential to arguably offer better products (obviously not a certainty), given its apparent more powerfull hardware structure and better devs support service.

Above all, remember that this is not about good or evil, but about what suits you best ... had I had the money would buy them both, but for now, is PS4 for me.
Id buy both if I could too. I always thought I'd buy a PS3 to go along with my 360. I almost did just so I could play The Show. I just dont think it was a worthwhile investment to just play one or two games.

Like I said, i just tend to play sports games, then some COD, or halo, and a few other little things. So either console works for me, but the ease of trading in, and getting some cash back is a big thing for me.

Im starting to think that buying one at launch... isn't a great idea for me. Probably best to just sit tight, see how things play out, and have some real information to work off of.

Either way, I think both systems are going to be great. Just a matter of what people want to work with..

Forgive all my questions and such... just trying to make an informed decision with my $500 which I find hard to do with what's out there so far.

Forcing the Kinect and always needing it working with always online is a huge caveat for me. I just cannot get passed that, especially with my work history for certain sectors.

After Hurricane Sandy I lost internet for a week but still had power, so while I couldn't go online or watch TV at least I could catch up on some gaming. I would have been livid if I didn't have that option for no reason.

If that was my only issue with the console I'm sure I could look past it, but theres the other issues that have been mentioned, and its $100 more expensive.
See... This is what I'm talking about when I say there's so much misinformation, and people just talking to make their side/choice seem better.. From what I've seen, yes XB1 is $100 more expensive, but that includes kinect. For the PS4, with the PS eye or whatever its called... the price point is the same. So the XB1 is technically not $100 more expensive.. well it is, but you get more for that $100... if you wanted the same options/accessories on both consoles... you're paying $499 for each...

Correct me if im wrong... but that's what I've read... or at least what I think I've read... No offence to you at all, I know we all have our preference here, but can't we just be honest about it and not try and present the information all the time towards which side we prefer... ya know, for those of us like me that are trying to actually decide between the two and are looking for correct information.

These articles pretty much sum up my thoughts on why I will be purchasing the Xbox One

Sony made the perfect pitch for the E3 crowd, but Microsoft has even bigger plans.
