I do think they are being too rigid with the timeframe, a check every 48 or 72 hours would be better. Or like I mentioned in another thread, let people do the authorization through the Smartglass app on their cellphone in case their home internet is out. But I don't have a problem with the authentication checks if it will bring us features like no disc gameplay, family sharing, and signing in to another person's console and letting me play my game library.
I wonder why Steam doesn't do it then. I go in offline mode all the time, for days at a time sometimes and am able to play my games with no problem.

So the XB1 is technically not $100 more expensive.. well it is, but you get more for that $100... if you wanted the same options/accessories on both consoles... you're paying $499 for each...
I believe they said the camera for the PS4 is $59, oh and it's completely optional.

I have absolutely NO interest in KINECT or anything of the sort and I damn sure will not have one forced on me.

This makes me feel better, so if my internet goes out for a few days I can tether my XO to my cell phone and have it do a authentication check, then I can play games on single player.

PC games are really easy to pirate, but that's not going to harm PCs because that is not their main function. If you have a gaming console where games are easy to pirate, it goes away quickly like the Dreamcast did.

                  Ryse
                  BF4 and
NBK 2K14 reserved, not sure if I am getting Madden 25 or not, Ill wait and see how it turns out.

Here are what I find to be two extremely helpful posts about Xbox One.

The first is someone who discusses their conversation with Xbox's Major Nelson. http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comme...son_at_e3_and/

The other post is from an anonymous Xbox One developer who tells it the way it is. Describing it like this " Honestly, if you care about anything other then pure games AT ALL. Xbox 1 > PS4. If all you do is play games, and nothing else, PS4."

                    https://www.neowin.net/news/anonymou...one-intentions

Although they still have some uncertainty themselves, I feel a lot more comfortable in my preorder of the Xbox One.

There isn't a system in place to sell your game outside of Steam either though, which is a pretty big reason for the frequency of the required license synchronization.

                        Re: Xbox One

I'm have both consoles pre-ordered, but I'm only getting one at release. At this point I'm 90% sure that it's going to the PS4, but that could change.

I'm not overly concerned with any of Microsoft's restrictions. In the past 10 years I've only lost my internet connection for more that 24 hours once and that was after a hurricane. At that point I was so thrilled just to have power (and not have to deal with sitting in a apartment that was 100 degrees) that I didn't even care that my internet/cable was out for a little while longer.

Used games does kind of annoy me. Not because I buy a lot of used games. Hell, most of the time you can find games on sale at other retailers than used at places like Game Stop. What bothers me the most about this is that I do sell most of my games on eBay. I couldn't tell you how many times that I've bought a game, played it for a month or two, then turned around and broke even by selling it on eBay. That's probably what erks me the most about this. Renting does not pertain to me because I haven't rented a game since I was a teenager 20 years ago.

The price doesn't really concern me either. Obviously, the difference is the Kinect. My wife has been bugging me to buy a Kinect since she we played with one in Best Buy when they first came out. In fact, she still regularly plays her Dance games on the Wii (poor thing). If it were up to her she would probably want me to choose a X1 just for the Kinect, but I have other. more important things to consider.

One thing about the X1 that should be a selling point to me but isn't is the TV stuff. Initially, I was excited by this, but my i only have a cable box in my living room and I don't have any gaming systems in my living room. That's not going to change. So even though I like the TV stuff Microsoft is doing as well as Sony opening up the library, neither really have an impact for me.

Neither companies exclusives really excited me that much. Although, I will admit I'm a sort of weird when it comes to gaming. I don't really care about all the futuristic games with robots or humans with super powers and what not. Give me a game like Sleeping Dogs, Uncharted or Mafia II any day over Halo and Mass Effect. I do make exceptions to this, but for the most part I like realistic games in realistic settings. The majority of the games I'm interested in will be on both platforms.

What I think my final decision is going to come down to is how multi-platform games compare against one another. I'm interested to hear if PS4 games will be ported over and if they are I want to see comparisons. I know that there probably will not be that big of a difference between the two. However, with the PS3 having noticeably more jaggies in multi-platform sports games and having things like replays cutting off, etc. I'm certainly wanting to know more before I make a final decision.

You arent understanding what the check in is. It doesn't mean you have to turn on your XB1 every 24 hrs.
