Actually, Military consumers won.. those consumers in areas where High Speed Internet is not available won.. those consumers in areas where the internet consistently gets knocked out for days at a time won.

Man this makes things interesting. So are PS4 and XBOne nearly identical now? Exclusives aside.

And those with no Internet still lose.

You need a release day patch for it to work.

I still think PS4 is winning, this did seal the deal in terms of me getting an Xbone as well but PS4 has better specs and being $100 cheaper still gives them the edge IMO.

Yeah, just like the 360/PS3. It'll all depend on what type of games you like to play. I like certain games on the Xbox platform (NBA, NHL, WWE, TW), others on PS3 (MLB The Show, Sony-exclusive non-sports games) and some (NCAA, Madden) I can play on either.

So, while I say I'm only getting one, I'll likely get both (going to be fun telling my wife that), just not sure on the time frame.

              Tough call for me now.

              PS4: cheaper and the show
Xbone- Xbox Live, prefer the controller

I think I'm sticking with PS4 for now, but its not an easy decision anymore.

My point is that the internet is growing. Someone had to do it and MS was bold enough to try. Do you seriously think that with how much we've seen internet technology grow in the last 3 years alone that it will just stop now?

And by short-sighted...we are talking about many things. Jobs, competition with other countries, various applications. People cried foul for the wrong thing here. If anything, we should be on internet providers, demanding more robust networks.

Of course I don't want to see some without content because of not being able to connect, but this idea that MS was trying to shaft people is silly. They are trying to push the envelope, just like Apple, Google and other companies that are dependent on internet culture.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

With that said, I'm proud that gamers were able to force MS' hand and get them to change its policy. Power of the preorder.
True. Now I think I'll go Xbox but still thinking...they got rid of the stuff I hated so can't complain. IMO the entertainment stuff and actual announced exclusives beat Sony so far. Tight battle now

As someone who was ready to swear off Microsoft altogether after being firmly in their corner since 2001, this news made me very, very happy.

They never provided a single reason that I considered to be legitimate for creating their initial demands/limitations.

It was/is upsetting to me that so many people were just willing to accept it without any real justification - and SOME even jump to defend the corporation with "why wouldn't you want to be connected?" or even complaining that people disliked on the basis of principles ... which I find ridiculous OF COURSE people should be against something if it goes against their principles.

So tell me what envelope was being pushed because I missed it.

This. Already told my wife I was getting the ps4 before today's news. She's not going to be happy when I get both on launch day.
