I don't understand why we can't have both! It's a simple solution, have every game come with a activation code, when the game is entered into the console you will be prompt to use game Offline (don't enter code you can still play online but you can also play offline too) or Online (enter activation code and you must always be connected to the internet and be subject to 24hr check-ins and you get to enjoy benefits like Family Share.) Let the all digital transition happen organically, I bet over the years most gamers connected to the internet will choose to go always Online after the see the benefits that comes with it.

Everyone that complained about all those policies and Sony are the ones to thank for getting our consoles back!Comment

Re: Xbox One
Here is how this makes sense for YOU: New games could then be cheaper. Why? Publishers KNOW that they will not make money on resold games, so they charge more to you, the first buyer. You are paying for others' rights to use your game in the future. If the old system had gone into place, you would likely have seen game prices drop. Or, at the very least, it could have staved off price increases.
Furthermore, how did Apple's DRM scheme with iTunes work out in the end? The people wanted to be able to transfer the music they bought to other hardware and not just their Ipod........has iTunes vanished because of it? Nope.
I would entertain what Microsoft was doing if it would have actually have led to cheaper price points for games but there is nothing tangible to base that on. The author is making an argument that is disproved by other retail markets like music, automobiles and so on. Anyone else think that Microsoft would have passed the additional income from only selling new games to the consumer?Last edited by LastExit; 06-20-2013, 02:22 AM.Comment

It also looks like online gaming will be superior on Xbone. I mean 300,000 added servers. That's a pretty good bit.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os

Re: Xbox One
Interesting. However, there is no proof whatsoever that this claim that author makes would have happened :
When Microsoft rolled out their console at E3 did they say anything about their DRM system allowing for cheaper games? Had they made that argument in the weeks after Playstation took them to the woodshed for their DRM plans? No and no.
Furthermore, how did Apple's DRM scheme with iTunes work out in the end? The people wanted to be able to transfer the music they bought to other hardware and not just their Ipod........has iTunes vanished because of it? Nope.

This argument that some utopian future was going to come from Microsoft's policies is ludicrous.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Now we who want our games on the HDD and don't like swapping discs and having discs lying around the house will have to pay more for our digital copies and we won't be able to lend, share or resale our digital copies either.
I might as well go with the PS4 now since all the benefits of the Xbox One are gone. Now when both PS4 and Xbox are stuck in the last gen at least the PS4 will have better hardware.Last edited by Carolus Rex; 06-20-2013, 04:36 AM.Comment
