It's possible she didn't get any training (which is bad) or that she didn't pay attention. It's also likely that she just read from a script or you got directed to the wrong support (360 support, not One support).

I'm glad the factory reset fixed it. With other apps, you can re-install them, but like IE, TV is part of the system, so the only way to do that is via factory reset.

I communicate regularly with some of our top tier call center agents, and I'll let them know what happened here so they can prevent it from happening again.
Thanks for relaying the info. I feel sorta bad criticizing support people, like I said I used to be one, but the lady even said she was from Xbox 360 support and had been moved to Xbox One which is way more in-depth, as she said.

She and her supervisor both tried and were pretty good, they just didn't have the technical capability and once they heard DirecTV they wanted to hope that DirecTV could help me out. That's the only part that really got me, they can't do that as shipping customers off on a fools chase is bad for MS' reputation..

If my TV app stops working again and does the same thing I'll be resetting in a hurry...just SO GLAD IT'S WORKING AGAIN!! I really like using the voice commands for just about everything.

Now if only I could get my audio video receiver to be recognized by the Xbox One, it's a Samsung AH64-04467E - any input on how to go about getting that to work? It's an older a/v receiver...about 5 years old. Nothing in the Xbox One menus even was close to the model number..

Yeah, there should be a tool online soon with codeset for you to try, but in the meantime, go to TV & OneGuide troubleshooting and try these guys out:
      • 0070
      • 1199
      • 1424
      • 1295

Please let me know if any of those work for you for "Xbox Mute" and Xbox On/Off. I can file a bug to get the device in the system.
?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

?Ask me about the Xbox Ally handheld - I'm on the team that made it.

Oh man, you're a lifesaver!! The last code worked perfectly for me! The second code actually did increase my volume once but then wouldn't work anymore (which was odd) but now I've got everything working thanks to your help! So sweet to say Xbox On and everything turns on!!!

This is why I love being a member of OS!! Now u can get back to playing Forza, ie the fun stuff....

Thanks again studbucket, I searched for hours on the net for a way to make that work to no avail...

Only way, as far as I know, is to subscribe to Music Unlimited for $9.99/month..

ok so I just turned my Xbox on, and for some reason it did not turn on my tv or my soundbar, thought that was odd. Then I tried watching TV. When I bring up the TV app, it gets stuck at the logo screen, and then crashes back to home with the message "For some reason TV took to long to start (0x8027025a)

              anyone have this problem?

Yes, I did, read back through the thread a little....there's two things you can do:

                  1. Reset the cache by holding Xbox power button for 30 seconds

                  If that doesn't work

                  2. reset your xbox to Factory default settings - you won't lose your game saves but will have to go through the setup process again and redownload any games, apps

The fix for me was #2... Took me about 5 minutes and I didn't lose anything...

Here lately, anytime I go to watch TV through the Xbox it just goes to a black screen. Do you think the reset will fix that?

ugh, well that is really frustrating. Considering all my games are digital. I will have to redownload all of them. Wow.
