I have a feeling that MS won't really have a "megaton" like that.
The amount of money they'd have to spend to get timed DLC and "lead platform" designation on multi-party games will be astronomical around now compared to the 360/PS3 era.
Was easier on the 360 when they were out a year prior to PS3 and already had the lion's share of the market, not to mention a cheaper and easier machine to develop for - that were relatively the same power when all was said and done.
April numbers just came out for hardware sales. XBox One sold ~115,000 in April.
If anything, MS is gonna have to follow Sony's lead from last gen. Their focus should be entirely on first/second-party offerings and beefing up their exclusives. They already have the FPS genre on lock for first/second-party.
They have nothing for those gamers that enjoy the Heavy Rain/Last of Us/Uncharted/etc. type genres, which would be a huge boon to them in both gaining market share/customer retention.
It's kind of a catch-22, though, especially for second party offerings. They have to convince those devs that it's worth it to develop solely for their machine, but they kinda need those games/genres to at least offer more worth playing.
Bluntly put: The XBox One had a lower selling April than the XBox 360 has ever had, save for this year. Spoiler with numbers and a random fact.
