Is anybody really ready for the next round on consoles yet? The PS3 and XBOX are still awesome. It feels like Microsoft and Sony are kind of forcing this upon us. These games aren't hitting road blocks yet, they get better every year.

Re: Both PS4 and XBOX3 to be shown at E3
Upgrading to the xbox 360 was the worst for me, and I'm sure alot of others, in that I realized that I was going to have to buy a HDTV too(which I never desired until i got the 360).
I remember getting home with the system and Madden 07, plugging it into my CRT and just feeling deflated.
I couldn't even read the text it was all blurry through the composite cables.
At least this next gen I won't feel compelled to drop a grand on a TV too!Comment

I don't understand this "they're forcing new systems on us" thing. For one, they aren't forcing anything and for the first couple years, just about very game will be made with the 360 and ps3 able to play them. Secondly, these systems are really old and to move things forward they need to be upgraded.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Same here. However I know I'll reserve both so I'll have the opton of day 1.
Then depending on games shown that will be launch titles, I'll decide.Joshua:

Re: Both PS4 and XBOX3 to be shown at E3
The Next Generation According to Game Developers
The next generation of consoles starts in 2013, if all goes according to developers’ plans. In an anonymous questionnaire, multiple industry professionals told IGN that they plan to release games for the next Microsoft and Sony consoles before January 1, 2014.
Multiple developers also intend to launch software for an unannounced platform next year.To further signal the winding down of the current console generation, approximately 60% of respondents have no plans to release games for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or Nintendo Wii after 2013. Of course, this means some 40% intend to keep at current-gen releases after next year. To that point, an anonymous developer told IGN, “I would not be surprised if something atypical cannibalizes the market, maybe even the Xbox 360 itself.”
From a hardware perspective, nearly 80% of respondents said Microsoft’s next console is the easiest to work with, and the overwhelming majority suspect it will be the sales leader over the next five years. The ease of use compared to other consoles is assuredly attractive, too. By comparison, 63% of developers who spoke to IGN said the Wii U would be the most challenging platform to develop for. One creator went as far as saying, “we won’t be working on Wii U due to these complexities,” while another lamented the difficulty of moving innovative games unique to Wii U to other platforms. This poses the question: Will Nintendo once again need to rely primarily on first-party games to propel platform success? At any rate, the Wii U’s 2012 release window gives it a distinct advantage: time.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Both PS4 and XBOX3 to be shown at E3
Great games are still coming out, but the amount of RAM is limiting things big time. Unfortunately they won't have this much, but I agree with the Battlefield 3 creators, in hoping that the new consoles have 8GB of RAM.
Sports games really need the new hardware, IMO, especially if the A.I. is going to make the exponential improvement all across the board, that it desperately needs.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: Both PS4 and XBOX3 to be shown at E3
I don't buy the time advantage argument for WiiU. The Dreamcast and Sega Saturn had that "advantage", and look how that turned out. It can be argued the other way as well; the next Xbox and Playstation have a time advantage too... time to make consoles powerful enough to blow away the WiiU.
I'm very interested in Nintendo's new console, but coming out first isn't always better.Comment

Doesn't appear this is so:

MS an Sony are idiots if they wait till 2014. If the 360 showed anything, it is that first to market is a big deal.
I think we see at least one in 2013.

Re: Both PS4 and XBOX3 to be shown at E3
That's only one example though. If you go back a generation, the Dreamcast showed that coming out first didn't matter. And the generation prior, the Saturn met the same fate.
I think hardware, marketing, and software support play a much larger role than when the system launches.Comment
