Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
This is actually a PS3 question, but I didn't want to bump the PS3 thread, so excuse me for posting it here.
I have this Metallic X-Stand, Laptop Cooling Pad, that my wife has been using for her laptop every now and then. Now, I haven't really had any issues with my PS3, but since summer will be here in a couple of months...could I use this pad to cool my PS3? Has anyone ever tried this?My Specs:
ZX Spectrum
CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
GPU: Monochrome display
RAM: 48 KB
OS: Sinclair BASICComment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
That is odd and sounds almost like a issue i had with my wii and thinking the controller was break. When i was getting towards the end of Zelda Skyward sword my controller started acting up. I would be playing and my guy would start moving even when i wasnt pushing any thing. That made it impossible for me to play. I end up buying a new wii controller thinking it was my controller breaking. When i got the new contoller I was still having that issue. Just for the heck of it and tried the Wii u sensar bar on my wii and that fixed the issue. So i thought it was the controller when it truned out to be just the sensar bar going bad.
I also dont know what is going on but from the first time i got a wii ever time i trun the system on i get no picture and cant trun the system off. I have to then unplug the system plug it back in and then trun the system back on and i then get a picture.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Well just FYI digital games download the same amount of data that disc games install. Which means that unless you have a very slow connection you will probably actually be done sooner with digital as installing from the DVD is not very fast.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I know and that is something I don't like about this gen because it takes up way more space. I never had to get a bigger hard drive on ps3 but now with ever game having to be installed I am going to have to get a bigger one. But I would rather have disk because if and when the servers go away in the future you are not going to have a way to get a game that you once owned if your system breaks. Where with a disk you have the game forever. When it comes to how long to install a game I find disk are much faster. When I use the internet on my computer it is not the fastest but not slow either but I find downloading any games takes forever. Heck when a game gets a patch a lot of times just to download a patch can take a hour. If it takes a hour to just download a patch than a game which is much bigger is going to take sever days. The only Digital games I have are sonic 4 episode 1 and 2 on ps3 and I think both of them took like 3 days to download or something crazy like that.Comment

Has to do with leaving it on Rest Mode. Next time just unplug the Power cord from the electric socket and wait 30 seconds to turn it back on.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Barring some innovation, installing the full games is the new normal outside of titles like Quantum Break that have the option to stream video content rather than install it.
Games are only going to get bigger and use larger assets, and we've far outpaced the ability to stream them from disc media, unless the media is changed (from disc to a flash-based cartridge or something) this won't be changing in future generations.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I have no problem installing games onto the hard drive and actually prefer it so the game can run off the hard drive instead of the disc. Saves wear and tear on the lens and the disc as well as being able to load the game faster since it's running it off the hard drive.Comment

From NeoGaf -
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1202462
Related info from a meeting we had yesterday was waiting for it to be approved before posting.
Price is currently $399.99 they were discussing a better CPU which would raise the price to $499.99 we were guaranteed the price will be no higher than $499.99 (He mentioned the CPU upgrade quite a bit almost as if they haven't really decided on a final spec could be a pricing issue.) also there is currently no plan for any type of trade in program for current PS4 users but that could change.
They stated that the GPU is twice as powerful as standard PS4 and much faster. They did not say exactly how fast but that is was running at a higher clock speed while being much smaller than the original.
It will have a 4k blu ray player and will upscale games that are not natively 4k.
Also there was talk of some sort of VR lounge for the media player app which is supposed to be getting a substantial upgrade.
It was stated plainly and with no room for interpretation that there are developers that already have development kits for the PS4K and that they are making games that will directly target and take advantage of the higher specs of the PS4K. It was also stated that these games will in fact work for the PS4 but with considerable sacrifices made to performance.
It was also made very clear that current games would not be getting any type of performance upgrades by being played on the system and any benefits to older games would come via patch per game and per developer. When asked if this was going to happen the response was "Its a possibility but doubtful with the exception of a handful of games."
We were also given a list of games that will be available at launch that will directly take advantage of the PS4K where the differences are and I will quote him "Significant."
For the PSVR
Eve Valkyrie
Robinson
GT Sport
For the PS4K
Deep Down (Thought this was dead)
GOW4 (This was the exact abbreviation on the sheet I can only assume its god of war 4)
There were more games on the list but these are the ones that stood out to me.
That's all I can remember off the top of my head I'll see if I can get any more information.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
An even more awesome version of something that is already awesome?
Take my freaking money, can't wait.
Honestly I'm not surprised. I said this a couple years ago and will say it again, with all the hoopla over "next generation" labeled consoles I think it got lost in the shuffle that the One and PS4 really aren't "THAT" powerful. I have a 4-5 year old custom built PC collecting dust in m garage that smokes either console. We've seen plenty of frame rate/resolution issues on these current gen consoles already.
I think an upgrade is a good idea, as long as there is a trade-up program, that's pretty key"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."
