The surround sound system might need a little different setup than what you are doing....as your TV might not support PiP from two different sources on the SAME port(your surround sound is the only thing going into your TV, right?)
So you'd have to hook either the DTV or the PS4 directly to the TV and then the other to the SurroundSound and that into a secondary port on your TV.
When you hit the PiP button....you should be able to choose which is the primary(main screen) and which source is the secondary(PiP) at that point.

That's how I actually have it now as I have the receiver loaded with my PS3/PS4/360/XBone ports....and ran out of HDMI ports on that for my DTV and PC....(my receiver allows splitting sources for output...but that doesn't matter in this case.

I'm not tech savvy......mostly just trial and error when I started.
Years ago was using my laptop and my TV to edit rosters and was just trying to find a better way....so I created my own Snap!

Yes. The dish box goes into the surround receiver then the ps4 goes into it and hdmi goes out to tv.
Which console do u like the most?

        So early still.
Last go around.....I was an XBox 360 gamer first and PS3 for it's exclusives only. Games(that were on both systems) just looked better on the XBox 360 to me. I "out owned" 360 to PS3 games probably by 20 to 1.
This go around the PS4 looks better to me for games and I only have one XBone title...and only because it's an exclusive...Titanfall.
Like I stated...I made my own version of "Snap" long ago and with my office being directly connected to our bedroom....talking to my XBone is out of the question.....unless of course I want my office to be out in the garage!....so my setup suits me fine for now. I do wish I could extend my PiP to be the right side of the screen like the XBone......but I am able to resize it and choose it's location on my screen which is nice.
With the Show PS4 only....if I had to be forced to choose one...it's no question the4....

            Totally agree with you Knight.
Ime, the voice control feature on the XBOne is useless. You can do that stuff manually almost just as quick.

There are also not any exclusives on the XBOne that interest me yet. I'm not into Forza due to the arcade feel. I don't find Halo to be a fun game either, imo.

Watching tv while playing games on the XBOne is never used either. 'Cause I have 2 tv's hanging next to eachother. So I just have the game on one and the tv showing on the other. So why use an inferior feature on the XBOne??

If I was forced to choose one console over the other, I'd choose the PS4 every time. It runs cooler and is more quiet. Also, I prefer the PS4 controller. The fact that most games runs smoother with a steadier framerate, for me, is also a huge plus.
The XBOne is not a bad choice for people who can only own one console. But if friends or family ask me for advice, which happens a lot, I always tell them to go with the PS4.

While I do almost all of my gaming on the PS4, the integration of the media apps with TV make the XB1 invaluable now to the family.

Hate to correct you on a few things. I'll start out by saying that the voice stuff sounds stupid, lame or bad until you try it for yourself and no it's not as fast inputting it manually. It's actually useful and good after you try it out. It all depends on what you're doing. Arcade feel in Forza? You mean forza horizon right? Because Forza 5 is the only console sim available right now and it's a great game. You're incorrect about the ps4 running cooler and quieter. You don't even hear the Xbox while on while you can hear the ps4 and it can get loud depending on how long you've been playing. The ps4 consumes more power during gameplay, Netflix streaming and general navigation which makes it run hotter, but during standby it consumes less. I hate that the Xbox has a huge stupid brick in this day and age and the size of the console is too big imo. As far as hardware the ps4 has the edge, but the Xbox has a lot more features and the multimedia stuff is better on the Xbox. Sometimes it's a good idea to see these things for yourself since To get a better understanding of it. Also, for family the Xbox wins hands down. I've had so many fun nights with the family, but hardcore gaming the ps4 gets it.

While I agree with your overall assessment I disagree with the above statement. My living room is right by my kitchen, it's a large open area. Just a few minutes a go while cleaning up my kitchen, hands filthy from hauling wood and cleaning I was telling my Xbox to change channels, adjust the volume and etc.

Now yes I could have stopped, cleaned up, walked in, got the remote and done all of that. But for me to be able to do it all by just speaking is a HUGE perk and what I love most about the Xbox One.

I do wish the voice recognition was a bit better, yes sometimes I have to repeat myself, but I love it. And most importantly so does my fiancé

I agree with ODogg. I tell people who want just gaming to get PS4.

But my wife loves the voice control...being able to mute, change to Espn, pause, etc by voice is great when you have a baby on you and remote is across the room.

Also, Skype is much nicer than on computer...giant screen, easy to use, they Skype with family every day...

PS4 is the pure gamers system, but I feel the One is more well rounded

I do that type of stuff all the time. Voice controls are awesome. I come home from work and turn on my tv by voice while feeding the dogs in the kitchen daily. Turn it to the channel I want or to Xbox music right after that by voice. I love it. I could go without it but to call it useless" I can't get on board with that.

Re: Owners of both PS4 and Xbox One: Pros and Cons

Thanks everyone for your impressions. I just bought the AC bundle and will be joining the dual console owners club soon.

I have had a PS4 at launch after being an exclusive 360 owner and previous gen having the original xbox. I'm happy to be coming back to the XB universe when especially XBL.

I dont know how to put it, but while I enjoyed my PS4 the first year, there always felt like something was missing. For whatever reason, I don't have that same excitement and fun like I did with 360. I know PSN is pretty weak but I game mostly offline. So I'm hoping I get that missing unknown factor back on XBO. I play mainly sports games so exclusives are not that big of a deal with me.

If XBO surpasses all my expectations, I'll probably just make it my sole console and get rid of PS4. I know probably in the long run, PS4 horsepower may pass up XBO in terms of graphics. But if the experience on XBO is better for me, I don't mind the trade off.

I've had zero issues with Online games via PSN so far. It isn't "Weak" as it used to be. Plus the free games have been great.
Anyways once there are some good exclusives for X1 I'll jump. Looks like that won't happen until at least Halo5. We'll see.

As far as PSN, I'm just asking for at least be half of what XBL was on 360. If I'm paying a subscription, at least have some basic online features up and running. For example, if my friend comes online, notify me. I mean that's like 2004 online features. PSN still doesn't have that unless I'm overlooking an option.

Sadly, notifications aren't available. I don't know how a year later Sony still hasn't added this.

I could care less to know when friends come on BUT I get you man. Those features would be nice and I'm sure they will be there eventually.. sooner the better.
I always turn it off anyways because it's more of an annoyance than anything to me.
As long as gaming is smooth online I'm happy.
