Last week I did something that I don't normally as I'm a tightwad with games. I only play a handful of games and I'm picky about the games I play. I bought the ps+ premium for the whole year.

my ps+ was expiring in July so I started doing the math on this. A lot of the games I never play on it so prob don't get $60 out of it, but still I was going to renew it. After doing the math I see for a extra $60 I can upgrade to the highest level. I was going to buy stray eventually which is $30 and it will be free. I also wanted to buy ghost of Tsushima for the DLC and to finish up one section of side content. So It hit me that those two things come close to making up the difference of the $60. Then I will have a full year to try out other games on the service and hopefully some new ones will join the fold. They are also some older games I want to atleast test out.

Since I had $25 of ps store credit I just bought a $100 gift card. I ended up paying for it with gift cards which I don't have anything in so it was a great value. I also traded in 2 games that are on the service and picked up $22 of store credit for.

It's going to allow me to download some games for couch co-op which I normally wouldn't have bought. Here are a few games I've tried so far

Lawnmower simulator
Deliver us to the moon
WWE 2K22 - 2-hour trial
Overcooked

Looking forward to playing the Ezio Collection. That was my favorite part of the Assassins Creeds series. After that, I just lost interest for some reason and felt it was a series that shouldn't have lasted as long as it has so far.

While I have the Premium tier now because of it was only a difference of $8 until it expires in November, I'm definitely dropping down to Extra tier when I have to renew it. Like I said, not interested in Game Trials and Cloud Streaming, and not as interested playing PS1and Ps2 games again. Only classic games I think I want to play is the Metal Gear 3 & 4. Besides that, I think Extra tier is good enough

The trial system actually paid off for me as I had been thinking about buying 2k22. I was reluctant as the last time I bought it (2k16) I didn't like it. The 2-hour trail was enough for me to test out the gameplay and one of the new modes and make me want to buy it.

Sometimes I feel guilty for owning one. I'm sure I'm not the only one but my PS5 has been a big paperweight since 2020. I got it off a mistake by Walmart: a website said the consoles were en route, they weren't, so the manager took the names of the people waiting in line and contacted us when some PS5's did arrive because he said it was their fault.

I only got it for my child who played a few games of Fortnight and that was it. Then I pretty much did the same: bought 2K22 but haven't picked it up since the announcement of 2K23. So it's just there.

I've heard people say the brand of HDMI cable doesn't matter. I can't remember if it came with cables or if I have Monster cables on it.

I wish PS5's were aplenty because I felt really good having restraint for not purchasing a console in this generation and I was going to reward myself with a PS5 Pro down the line and/or play my PS4 backlog until then.

As it turns out, almost everybody else is also waiting on a PS5 since they're limited in availability (as are games overall) and working has really prevented me from gaming at all the past year plus. Just when I was ready to do some gaming this summer, I got a concussion and can't stand looking at a screen (especially for gaming) for more than about 10 minutes.

Ooh, the timing of everything.

I originally wanted to wait a year plus, but jumped at it at the first pre-order. No regrets, but looking at my time so far, I could have waited a year or so before getting a PS5 and not really miss out. With my work schedule and my toddler, I really haven't had the time. I just went through a stretch where I didn't play my PS5 in 5 months. I just started playing again this past month. Once my toddler, starts school in a month and a half, I'll have more time. But, I could have waited

I probably could've waited with mine too but I had a couple things line up at the right time to where I kinda lucked out and had a week off to check it out so I pulled the trigger. I'm probably not going to have a huge library for it to be honest. Right now I have 4 games and I feel like that's all I'm going to need for a while.
