Re: PlayStation 5
Lol....I don't get the hate but when pre-orders goes live I'm diving in since I was looking for another PS5. I don't want to upgrade my pc. The GPU upgrade alone costs as much as a PS5. The PRO specs matchup with many of the higher end pc's out there and then some. Also, with this model you're using a new technology PlayStation Spectral Resolution (PSSR) which will no doubt be a feature in the next model and yes, I did notice the graphic differences between the two during presentation. The Pro is another piece of Sony product like a a higher end TV put out on the market for the consumer. I know, tech whore is a sickness still, why suppress it? We all get to play how we want. Naturally, the 8K gamers will rejoice.
Rumors are swirling around, a ps4 system like handheld device that's in the works.Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
It does seem like we're headed towards a future with no disc drives. Not sure, how I feel about that. Before EA CFB 25, the games that I bought for the last decade have been digital. But, I use Gamefly to rent. I only buy games I'm certain ofComment

Re: PlayStation 5
I really don't understand the value proposition of the PS5 Pro. Unless you don't already have a PS5, I see no reason to "upgrade" (and in some cases, such as lack of a HDD, I would consider the Pro a downgrade).
I'm not sure I'd be willing to trade Sony straight-up for my regular PS5, to be honest (especially since I have games on physical disc). The only reason I'd consider it is to get a new stupid controller, since the DualSense controllers have the most consistent and horrible stick drift problem (raise your hand if your left stick drifts!) I have ever seen.
I'd be happy if they released a controller with no stick drift and no other features - I don't care about rumble, touchpad (which absolutely never gets used), variable triggers, etc. I don't even really care about wireless. Sell a deluxe controller with all that stuff. Sell a $30 bare-bones controller that does nothing other than not friggin' drift!!!!Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
I can't stress enough how much that the majority of gamers purchasing this system is for online and for the GTA release. The differences between the PS4 and PS5 is staggering playing online against multi-platforms. I know this for certain. The difference between the PS5 and the PRO will be staggering again, I'm sure.
I would also like to add that Sony has viewed the competition differently. Many releases get a PC release the same day as PS5. They don't want you buying for the pc when the PRO offers you just as good a product.Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
As expected, my wife still wants me to get it. Mainly because I rarely ever spend money on myself and her aon wants a PS5. I still don't feel comfortable with it. I would only consider getting the Pro with the plan to flip it when the PS6 comes outComment

Re: PlayStation 5
This is the first new Sony console that has released that I am not interested in. If I just had money to blow then maybe but I've been wanting a new TV and the money could be better served going towards that.
I bought the PS4 Pro and thought it was a worthy upgrade for what I was looking for at the time but times have changed. I don't have the free time and don't find a lot of the new releases that interesting.
I wouldn't blame someone for buying this thing if you can get PS5 fidelity quality graphics and ray tracing at a much better frame rate. I haven't used the fidelity modes in any games because 30 FPS is rough on my eyes now.
For now my big questions are:
- What type of games are we going to see? With costs and long development cycles I don't think any big surprised are coming anytime soon. What big demanding games are coming? Just GTA 6 right?
- How will developers be able to utilize this? The majority of my PS5 ownership has seen people still playing the games I am on their PS4. Now granted it's a much lower quality but still playable.
The good news is everyone who wants a PS5 for the most part has one so there's no rush. People can let this release and see for themselves whether or not people are finding value in it. I'm so far behind on new releases there's no reason to go fight to try to get a $700 console without a disc drive.Last edited by AUChase; 09-10-2024, 02:10 PM.Comment
