IMO there really is no difference between 720p and 1080i. 1080i is supposed to be better for movies and 720p is supposed to be better for sports and action. Side by side and I can't see any difference (of course other variables come into play so it's really tough to say).

I still see no difference. It could be me, but to me they look the same.

My lamp just went out on my Sony 55A200 SXRD. I have the Best Buy PSP which covers lamp replacement and that's good, but I'm without my TV for, at least, a couple of days. I just bought my TV last September, it seems very odd that the lamp would already be shot. I'm a little upset, but what can you do, but wait for them to replace it.

I have to call someone in GA to get it replaced, that's seems like a long way to travel to replace a lamp. Does this seem right?

jpup - That seems WAY too soon for a lamp to die. I don't know about SXRD's, but the Sammy DLP I have states it should last about 8000 hours. I bought a spare lamp about 6-8 months ago as the calibrator who worked on my TV said it was getting low, but I still haven't had to replace it.

Can't you order the replacement lamp and put it in yourself? I don't know how the SXRD's work, but with my DLP it's removing 2-3 screws, pulling out the lamp and pushing the new one in.

I just got done reading the manual and it says 8000 hours. That would be 333 days of constant use. Something is up. I was just watching the NASCAR race today and the I heard a slight pop as the screen went black. Now when I try to turn it on, the lamp light comes on and blinks red. According to the manual, it's time to replace the lamp.

Yes, I can order a new one, $250 from Sony and put it in myself, but I have the Best Buy PSP and it covers the lamp. It's just a pain that I can't use the TV in the meantime. I don't know what else to do.

Yeah it sounds like something is wrong. No way the lamp should die as fast as it did.

I got ya. I misunderstood what you were saying before. I thought you were waiting that long because you were waiting on someone to install the lamp for you. I don't know what to tell you. There's probably nothing you can do aside from contacting local Best Buys and seeing if they could do anything or if they could give you an extra lamp since yours died too quickly. I'm sure you've already been down that road though.

I called Best Buy and they said to call the 800 number and I did. They are faxing all of my info to a service center in Georgia, of all places. I have to call the service center in the morning. No way that the lamp should have died this soon. The lady on the phone said that it should be fixed sometime this week. I am going to call them in the morning and see what they think then call the local Best Buy and see if they could just let me have another bulb instead. 2 or 3 days without HD is going to stink.

I have even contemplated going to Wal-Mart and picking up another TV, maybe a Vizio or something to just get by. It's sad, I know.

You mean you don't have any tv's at all besides your main set? I've got a little 14" Toshiba I have used in these situations. It's a great little gaming tv too because it takes component for the 360.

Quick question...Does the brand of the television have a huge impact on your viewing experience? Obviously seeing a Visco for $100s fewer is catching my eye.

It does, but Vizio is an excellent brand.

Not sure if this is supposed to go in Console talk or here, but here goes: I just purchased a Sharp Aquos LC-32D62U. I went to play the show on the PS3 and the game screen did not fill the whole TV screen (there were black bars horizontally and vertically) despite me being in "dot-by-dot" mode on the TV. I tired in both 720p and 1080p, and switching picture views on the tv, but it was still the same. I noticed that in the visual sliders on the show '07, you can stretch the picture horizontally and vertically, but that appeared to stretch the image to my dislike - you could tell it was stretched. I put in Motorstorm, and the video screen filled the whole tv screen and everything looked great. Anyone have any idea how to fix this on the show? It's driving me nuts.

Yes, I got the 37" Vizio and I am a huge fan. Cheaper than other tv's, but the picture quality is more than enough for me. I was amazed and i'm happy with how it looks.

Co-sign with the 32inch. The only reason I gave it a shot was b/c of Colin Cowherd advertising them on ESPN radio.
