This is a great size for me. I would like something with HD support up to 720p, 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, etc. Does this look good, or should I do more browsing? I mean, I can get this TV new at $769.00!

      Sound good, or?
Again bumping this question (going three pages back) because I would like to know if this is a good deal or not.

Yeah, me neither. That's why I want to know.

By the way, about the one that I had asked about:

            http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...&s=electronics

It said something about 1080i being supported, but not displayed.

            Huh?

I would stay away from this TV MUFF, LCD displays will give you lag during your gaming. They also have the worst Black-Levels on the market..

This TV is specifically sold @ Best Buy. I haven't heard anything about this TV. What type of money are you looking to spend? From what I see you guys are trying to stay under $500.00. If this is the case, your options are very limited. A good small HDTV will run you anywhere between $700.00-$1,000..

Samsung makes some good Smaller HDTV's & I would go that route..

The reviews that I saw were pretty good. That's strange.

There were some other 30" ones that were around that price, let me go find them.

I'm looking for anything that's under 32", under $1000 (my parents don't want to spend much), and supports 720p and 1080i (with a pretty good picture).

Don't know how many of those I can find that people can recommend.

                      Flat panel or CRT?

                      For CRT I'd suggest
                      The LG 30inch.. Supports 720p & 1080i
                      Sells for about 900.00
The Sony 30inch 420 sells for 860.00.. Supports the above mentioned resolutions.
                      Samsung 30inch
                      Samsung slimfit 30inch...
The Sony would be the best bet.. Better PQ then the others.. But I don't think it comes with a built in HD tuner..

500.00 bucks... The 30inch Advent widescreen at BB.. Sells for 497.00.. The RCA 27inch HDTV sells for 300-400 bucks.. You should also look into refurbed or floor models.. You can save some cash & still get the manufacturs guarntee (not sure on open box items though)..

DIGITAL 2 DIGITAL is always the best quality...
In theory, yes.. But I heard from too many ppl that can't tell the difference, or makes their PQ worse.. But most of them were using HDMI instead of DVI.. I prefer DVI too though..

Muff, when you say SUPPORT, do you mean display both 720p & 1080I? Right now the only technologies that 720p as it's native resolution are DLP & LCD. Most CRT's will accept 720p but then the TV converts that signal into 1080I.

For your budget range an HDTV which accepts 480I, 480P, 720P & 1080I but natives resolution is 1080I might be your best bet. The difference between 720P & 1080I can barely be seen with the Naked Eye...

As far as I understand, the numbers (720 and 1080) represent the amount of horizontal lines across the T.V. So, when 1080i is supported, all of them are being used and defined, making the picture very crisp.

And as for p vs i, i just means interlaced lines, where it takes 1/60 of a second to complete and refresh half of the lines on the T.V. (1 - 719 odd), and then does the other half (2 - 720 even). Then, p (for progressive scan or something) completes all lines in (1 - 720) taking the same amount of time... meaning 1/60 of a second, refreshing the image much quicker and making the transition from frame to frame much smoother.

So, which one do people prefer? Better picture, or better refreshing image?

Also, I'm confused with what you're asking. Basically, what I want is a T.V. where I can watch baseball and football games in HD, and I want to play my... whatever games I have, in the best picture it can get. Most of my games can only go up to 480p, but some day I'm going to get games that support 720p and 1080i. So... yeah.

Most importantly though are the sports that I want to watch. Which are they displayed in, and can you give me an example (doesn't matter the price range, I just need to see) of a T.V. that's around 30" or smaller that I would be able to see in 720p or 1080i or whatever?
