I'm just not 100% sure about the technology and what I will/won't need after I buy a TV, so any help is appriciated. Also if anybody knows any in the <$600 price range that is acceptable(I know it won't be the greatest because of my price range), please start suggesting them.

Re: HDTV Questions and Answer Thread
I"m just worried about having to pay an extra $50 a month for cable to get a digital receiver. Not sure if this TV would last me long enough to need to worry about that, but I just want to minimize the costs for extras after I buy a TV. I don't really like the idea of spending $500 on a TV then having to go out and buy a HD Receiver and Digital Tuner and some other things.Originally posted by Fresh Tendrils

Re: HDTV Questions and Answer Thread
HDTVs with the built-in HD tuners are usually $150-250 more expensive. If you are planning on getting a HD package from the cable or satellite company, you may not need a tuner. A HD box is about $200-250, so it's probably a wash.Originally posted by CM1847I"m just worried about having to pay an extra $50 a month for cable to get a digital receiver. Re: HDTV Questions and Answer Thread
is it safe to assume that a television that states resolutions of 480p & 1080i with Progressive Scan Capabilities will be able to view TV & XBOX 360 games at 720p ? or is it only Progressive Scan Capable because of the 480p setting.. (which i thought i was EDTV only..)

Re: HDTV Questions and Answer Thread
Thanks for the tip. I have been looking for a cheap HDTV for the bedroom to begin my venture into HD and this set was the best one I looked at and the price is nearly unbeatable unless you are willing to go with a refurbished TV.Originally posted by nyyanksfan20If anyone is in the market for a low priced hdtv i'd get the Panny 26" at Circuit City for $400. I just made my purchase of an awesome HDTV for the same price as a new 360 (as soon as I find one on a retail shelf somewhere). I purchased this TV for the bedroom which will be where the 360 lives as well as movie watching. Can't wait to go pick it up and set it up. Thanks again!

Re: HDTV Questions and Answer Thread
I played the 360 version of 2K6 on my LCD monitor in 1280, and it is absolutely sick. Man, those textures look like reality. I replayed a LeBron dunk in slow-mo and focused on his face...it actually gave me the creeps.Originally posted by koolbubbaiceUnless you use a VGA cable with your Xbox360..
VGA cables support pc resolutions, components do not.. & seen a screen shot of about 4-5 different resolutions to choose from, even 1280X1024..
Only problem with that resolution was the blurring effect when everything moved. Might be my monitor, not sure.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Then what's the black spots on my TV. I know they don't have pixels, but that was the only way I could describe it. There are about 6 of them now, all in the upper left hand corner...Originally posted by koolbubbaiceCRTS don't have pixels.. They have scan lines..Comment
