Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
Sorry jpup, I forgot that the A2000 SXRD's have "Custom" in place of "Pro" (though the available options are identical). I've read at AVS that the CNET settings are a good jumping off point, but you should be able to find more tweaks there that will improve your picture.
As for my contrast/picture settings on my XBR1, I have it set at 56, but my control only goes up to sixty something, and I have the "Power Saving" function on. You need a test pattern of some type to find the correct setting, and you want the peak white level to just turn white from gray...not stark or blinding white.
AVS is a hell of a place to navigate though, and the owners and tweak threads for displays get insanely large. Hopefully someone will be "noob" friendlyand point you in the right direction.

Just to let you know, the conventional wisdom, is that CNETs setting aren't that far off. I have spent the last several minutes reading over at AVS.
I'll let you guys know my setting once I come to a conclusion.
Here is a good read for SXRD owners.

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
My 42 inch Dell 4201C Plasma TV died today after six months of action.Bad timing too as I was suppose to have company for football this Sunday.
I contacted Dell technical support and they said they will ship me a new unit and I should have it by eight days. Anyone every deal with Dell replacement program? Is it good?
Atleast I have my HD LCD still.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
alright guys, looks like i'm in the market for a new HDTV as well since my Hitachi looks like it's crapping out. First i'll try to see if i can get it repaired but i want to start thinking alternatives just in case. First, let me just say that my extended 5 year warranty expired the SAME DAY THE TV BROKE....I'm going to try to contact Hitachi to speak with them about this since that's just terrible luck...
Anyway, here is what i'm looking for. 53" or greater, used for all types of things such as DVD,s Xbox 360, and HD tv'ing as well...I'd really like to avoid any ghosting, burn in, or whatever else might happen. I don't want anything that HAS to be mounted to a wall and what i'm looking for is the best picture possible with the most reliability. I'm not too sure about which is better, plasma vs lcd, or whatever, but i'd be eternally grateful if someone can point me in the right direction as to what to look for.
My two brands of choice would be either Sony or Samsung (from my novice outlook, i've heard the best from both and i really liked the Sony picture even though they are overpriced a bit)...
I'd probably be picking the tv up from Best Buy or Circuit City. I don't care too much about it being the thinnest possible tv, but nothing too incredibly bulky i guess.I'd be probably getting a table as well to keep it on if necessary. I'd love for it to be 1080p if that's the future as well.
Lastly, money really isn't too much of an object, as long as we're talking under 3k....
I deeply deeply appreciate any and all help.
also, for what it's worth, i'll be watching a lot of sports in both standard and HD tving...Last edited by Keirik; 10-07-2006, 12:13 AM.Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment

Check out the new Sony SXRDs. I bought mine last weekend, KDS-55A200, and I am loving it so far. The Samsung DLPs are also very good TVs and are a little cheaper. As far as plasmas, I would look at the Panasonic's if you are interested in those.
Again, I would highly recommend the SXRD.NFL: Tennessee Titans

I have the 61" Sammy, and I love it man. It's a great TV for the price. The Sony, I didn't care for it that much in the store, but I seen one at my buddy's the other day, and it was pretty sweet as well.
But I wouldn't trade my Sammy for anything right now... except the 73" that's coming out soon, lol.Twitter - WTF_OS
