I also like that the book has Ben Urich (one of my favorite side characters though I hate that they've taken away the smoking and really crusty old guy look they had for him) and Spider-Woman teaming up on this caper.

I'll be interested to see how the rest of this plays out.

I like how the Spider-Gwen, Silk, and Spider Woman books spawned out of Spider-Verse too. However, I'm not a fan of the Spider-Woman costume change. I think the new look, looks too much like the hipster Batgirl outfit that I'm also not a fan of. I also don't like the art in the Silk book, but I think the storytelling/script in that book has been on point

I don't really have a book from this past week's release. I mainly got caught up on some Spider books reading the epilogue for Spider-Verse, Silk #1, Spider-Gwen #1, and Spider-Man 2099 #9.

The only book I read from release week 2-March was Guardians Team-Up #1. I think it was ok, had some funny parts, and some good (but not great) art. I might pick up the next two issues to see where this leads...
      Spoiler
but I still got GotG books from Original Sin that I haven't read not to mention all of what's come out for Black Vortex...

A book I bought last week but haven't read yet is "Descender" #1, a new Jeff Lemire book published by Image. Seems like Lemire is everywhere right now w/ Hawkeye, JLU, Future's End, Descender, Trillium... Eager to read "Descender" though as I am a fan of Lemire's writing.

With today's digital release Injustice is done until May. If only there was something to read between now and then . Thought this 'year' was just OK, compared to the amazing IMO first 2 years. Not too into the magic stuff, will re-read it all when I get the hardcover.

A lot of press out today about the new DC and their vision, and some Batman stuff and the all new status quo (which doesn't seem to be spoiled by the article).

I love Snyder's run on Batman so far though i'm a little iffy on the whole Joker thing unless there's a swerve but I feel that he's going a bit too much on the "every arc will CHANGE Batman forever" vibe. Sometimes I like to read something that isn't going to totally upend the apple cart y'know? Like there was a neat two issue filler in Detective Comics recently that saw Batman having to stop some crazy eco terrorist type who created a virus that would kill all of Gotham. It was told well and while inconsequential in the long run it was a nice change of pace form every story being some big super event in the lives of the characters.

This is awful, it can't be his real new costume.

It's basically what Grant Morrison did when he handled Supes but at least you could understand that since it was Superman before he truly established himself. Oh and Wonder Woman going back to a look similar to what she wore during that aborted run by J. Michael Straczynski is just wrong headed. This is NOT a good way to start the post Convergence era.

Costumes don't bother me at all. Modernized look for Superman. As long as Batman doesn't put on jeans I'm good haha.

And I just read Injustice #11 - I'm glad I canceled my local comic book subscription. Gonna finish out this year but I'm TPB'ing year 4. Seems like its conclusion is gonna be stretched or something.

Well be prepared for a Batman in a robot suit and antenna (I guess) that looks like bunny ears.

Anywho, no comic really grabbed me this past week though I have to give a thumbs up to the art in Amazing X-Men which had a real storybook quality to it. You'll know what I mean if you read it.

Descender #1 (from last week) was a good first issue. This book will be added to my pull list now. Also anyone looking for a good self-contained Marvel story needs to check out Iron Fist.

No tie-ins for this one so far, 11 solid issues, all drawn/written by one person. I am REALLY loving this book!!

So what do you guys think of the whole controversy about the Batgirl 41 variant cover? Artist Rafael Albuquerque asked DC to cancel the cover and made this statement:

"My intention was never to hurt or upset anyone through my art, For that reason, I have recommended to DC that the variant cover be pulled"

Here's the variant if you haven't seen it:

I can see where the controversy comes from but there's a history to that image as it's clearly evocative of The Killing Joke when Babs got paralyzed. If this was just some sensationalist thing i'd be a little more disturbed. I admit, the image is quite arresting and it is indeed very lurid and suggestive but there's been worse things put on covers IMO.

I don't have a problem with it - its actually very thought provoking. Since the shooting, she had nothing but hatred for him. She didn't show too much fear in the comics I've read since then but this cover showed possibly her inner fear of The Joker.

The last thing I assumed was the r word.

                              Seems like good marketing.

Meanwhile, as a huge Marvel fan, there's only like 3-4 books I can pick out of the July solicits that sound interesting - http://www.bleedingcool.com/2015/03/...5-secret-wars/

What the hell are you doing Marvel. Thors. Ghost Riders, etc... I've never been so put off.

The core event book, X-cutioner's song, Age of Apocalypse, maybe X-Men 92, Old Man Logan... better all be amazing. Heh, guess those are all X-books

About ready to just go all-in on DC's stuff or something.

Pull it? Come on...art is art, you don't have to like and you can be offended by it. Its expression or it mimics real life, either way it is what it is, and you can choose not to like it, look at it, or support it in some way but you can't stand in its way.
