<table><tbody><tr><td></td><td valign="top">yeah, sometimes you just gotta roll with the delays. They kill me too. This one isn't too bad, you want a bad delay, look at All Star Batman and Robin or Wildcats (Jim Lee is the reason for both). I've pretty much lost all interest in the Batman and Robin title, but I love Wildcats so much that I just have to deal with it.

The Marvel title Runaways just finished a story arc that I've been waiting till its completion to read, so I'm starting that today. I love Runaways, fossen recommended it to me and it hasn't disappointed in the very least. The next issue, #25, will be the first not written by series creator Brian K. Vaughan. I'd be bummed about that, but Joss Whedon (Firefly, Buffy, etc) is taking over the writing for 6 issues before I believe Vaughn returns. I can't wait for that.

The most recent Superman issue was awesome as well. I wasn't optimistic because of the cover (the one with Superman depicted as an angel), but it was great. I should have known with Busiek writing it though.

Spider-man readers, I think I'm gonna start picking up a few issues starting with the Back in Black issue of Amazing Spider-man #539. What Spider-man titles are in the same continuity as Amazing Spider-man? Sensational and Friendly Neighborhood? I read my brother's Ultimate Spideys whenever I get a chance, but I thought I'd follow this Back in Black story. What has happened to lead into #539 this month? Thanks.

      Re: Comic Book Fans....

I don't know if you're the only one reading (if so i'll stop bumping this up LOL) Aukevin but I finally got my hands on the latest ACTION. Wow you were definitely right. It was a great issue and I loved the background information on Zod and his Phantom Zone cronies. The twist in the story was a bit out of left field. (maybe if the issue came out earlier when the last installment was more fresh in the reader's mind it would be less so)

The only problem I had was with Kubert's art. Some of it looked rushed (understandable since this mini is collecting dust and they needed to get this to print) and it seemed a little too cartoony for the type of story being told. Otherwise, it was well written and the art was good enough.

Unfortunately I didn't get Batman #664 from last week. I guess my comic book store ran out of it. (I did e-mail the store owner just now) The two part fill-in on DETECTIVE looks mighty interestng. I didn't get around to reading it as I was tired last night. I also recieved my BATMAN: STRANGE APPARITIONS TPB in the mail yesterday. I read Engelhart and Rogers' excellent DARK DETECTIVE trade when it first came out so it'll be fun to read their original run with the character.

Last but not least since the events of Captain America #25 I wonder if Marvel has an Ultimate Captain America title out. I don't want to go with the mainline books because I don't want to get into the muckety muck of Civil War and all that junk. To be honest I think Marvel is pretty damn inaccessible to the average person to just jump into it.

I don't think Batman 664 has come out yet SPTO. It was scheduled but never came out, the last one was Morrison's first issue of the new Joker story (the prose style issue).

As for Cap America #25, I don't read it but I was surprised what happened. This is comics though and major characters like that rarely stay gone for more than a year, especially when they have a big budget movie out in 2009. Pretty shocking though, I had no idea it was coming.

I don't read too many Marvel comics, mainly just Runaways, but I did grab the most recent issues of Amazing and Sensational Spider-man. I figured I'd read them for a few months and see what's going on. Hopefully I don't get sucked too far into the Marvel world, my wallet couldn't handle it, I already get about 40 comics a month, LOL.

            My God man!

...and here I am struggling to buy 5 titles.

BTW thanks for the Batman #664 info. You are correct it was scheduled for the last week of Feb.

There's a few in there that I really haven't enjoyed in a while like Birds of Prey and Superman/Batman, but I've been reading those since the start so it's hard to put them down. I was all set to drop Green Lantern but it got really good all of a sudden, and with the Green Arrow showing up in Smallville it made me pick his title back up again. I will more than likely drop that one again in the future, but it's been pretty good as of late as well. I had dropped Justice Society for a while but picked it back up when it relaunched recently, I'll probably drop it again too. I just don't care too much for the characters on that team. But other than those, I really don't want to quit reading any of the others. I probably shouldn't read so many mini series. Luckily Ion, Justice, Red Menance (which is awesome), and Conner Hawke are all about done. My wallet was happy that 52 is ending soon, but then DC goes and is starting another weekly comic after it ends so I'll have to get that one too, LOL.

                      What's the next weekly comic?

BTW i've noticed in reading the comics lately that DC is really pushing out a lot of trades these days. It makes me wonder if DC is doing better with trades then they are with their monthlies.

Right after 52 ends, a new series called Countdown begins. It starts with issue #51 and counts down to #0 over the year. Detective Comics' Paul Dini will be the one heading up the comic.

I might have to get into that for the various storyline elements (Jimmy Olsen Must Die and the two villians being chained/linked together) At least it's being headed by one of the more capable people in the industry as I have great respect for Dini. I love his run on 'TEC so far.

yeah I think I'll like this one more than 52. I've enjoyed 52, but it's focus was more on the secondary heroes like Renee Montoya, Steel, Elongated Man, etc. I'm looking forward to a weekly where we see more of Superman, Batman, etc. The WWIII 4-part series next month should be interesting as well, that's what seems to be wrapping up 52.

"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer
