Ledger will have a better script and hopefully a better background to go off of than Jack did. I've seen Ledger in Brokeback Mountain and some random scenes of the Patriot. I know he started out as a chick flick actor, but he seems to be getting serious, so I'm comfortable with this choice. Plus Nolan knows what he's doing. Hopefully the Joker kills Rachel Dawes, but thats my personal wish and it most likely will not come true. I personally want to hear his laugh, because IMO, Mark Hamil has the Joker's laugh on lock-down.

Anyway, production should start by the end of the year. I can't wait for this to hit theatres!
if you want a Heath Ledger movie recommendation, check out Lords of Dogtown. It's a real good movie and Ledger does real well in it. It's not one of his "heartthrob" roles.

I actually don't mind Ledger as the Joker. He's a very good actor, and I could really see him actually working really well with Bale.

Plus, what a better foundation to have for a movie? Bale and Ledger are probably two of the best young actors in Hollywood right now, and you have them both in the same Franchise. Very good move, imo.

Still, Glover wouldn't have been a bad choice either...

          and neither would Vincent Cassel

Not 100% related to Batman II, but I didn't want to start a new thread for this. Anyway, has anybody checked out the old 40s Batman serials? I'm interested in them, especially the Batman serial because it was the first appearance of both Alfred and the Bat-Cave.

Nah, not yet. I wanted to, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to purchase it or just rent it.

SPTO (or anybody else for that matter), have you watched any of the animated Batman movies? If so, do you have any impressions for them:

                    Mask of the Phantasm
                    Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero
                    Mystery of the Batwoman
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker

I found this site, which seems pretty cool and has a couple videos worth checking out.

Mask of the Phantasm: One of the better animated movies i've seen in a long time. I remember. Heck I remember Siskel&Ebert giving this 2 Thumbs up!

Mystery of the Batwoman: This was actually on tv here yesterday but by time I found out it was almost done. I kinda mentally kicked myself for missing it.

Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker: I'm not a huge fan of the Batman Beyond series but I thought this movie was pretty good.

the SubZero movie was...well...just like every other plot Mr. freeze has ever been involved in.

                          Nothing new or groundbreaking.
