Nice to see the format war is finally over. I probably won't buy a Blu-Ray player though, I'll just wait for digital distribution.

Eh. I will never fully embrace digital distribution of anything. I like have a hard copy lying around.

The Blu-Ray players are too expensive right now so I opted for playing Blu-Ray's on my PS3. It's actually a pretty darn good player as well. Even better when considering the price as compared to standalone Blu-Ray players.
mjb, I'm not alone.......because I always felt I was the only one that used that philosophy with game systems and SAL players.

Ha, I'm the same. I thought I was the only one- I never used my PS2 or Xbox for playing DVDs. I plan on doing the same for the hi-def media as well too.

Somebody in a HDD thread said it would be funny if Toshiba throws in the towel before Universal and Paramount. Shady thing to do after slashing prices to "compete" but it really being to unload your inventory.

If I were Sony, I'd spend every last dollar building something to compete with Xbox Live. If they had a competitive online service, even if people had to pay for it like they have to pay for XBL, they would eliminate most people's only reason for choosing the 360 over the PS3 for gaming.

And that's not even discussing the hardware reliability of both consoles....
That...and the Sony Playstation Controller sucks big donkey balls.

                      And Mass Effect...

                      And Halo....

And about 10000 other titles that are either exclusive to 360 or better than the stuff on PS3.

                      XBox aint going anywhere.

If not for a rash of car repairs taking my free money, I would have jumped on the $299 40GB PS3 (when you get approved for the Sony credit card). Think the promotion is over.

Playstation controller is way better than Xbox.

                          Mass Effect...WHO CARES!!

                          Halo.....REALLY SUCKS!!

Give the PS3 time, the games will be better than the 360.

And yes Xbox is not going anywhere, and that includes into the next generation of gaming.

Wow, very mature reply. You certainly dont come across as some PS3 fanboy at all, I would be shocked if your take was the same back when the PS3 had nothing to play on it except the inferior sports games.

I was one of those people, and I think it is better they did because it saved face for both Universal and Paramount. If either of those 2 left first, they would have looked like the bad guys that killed HD DVD.

I guess now Microsoft will come crawling to Sony so they can use blu-ray and that means more coin for Sony. Early on alot of media people said blu-ray would kill the PS3 because of it's price and that people want to play games not movies oh how wrong they were. Too many people think in the now where Sony looked ahead and planned for the future. Sony had faith in their format where Microsoft didn't and that was the difference.
