The world has always had climate cycles (hence the ice ages, etc.) and now we are on a warmer cycle. Pushing agendas, and global warming makes me LOL.

Believe what you wish, as always. I sure do.

EDIT - One HUGE difference in Europe is that their public transportation sector is 100x better than it is here. Many Europeans opt for public transportation over driving their own car. At least that's what I've been told by a few people who I know have been to areas such as London.

Sure we drive Mercedes and BMWs like they do but it's American car companies that consume the most gas. You won't see any Fords over in Europe.

The public transportation is irrelevant in this though. They do have efficient public transport but Europe isn't all big cities. People live in suburban and rural areas also. And their cars must be significantly more efficient than ours.

three snowfalls this winter break vs. ZERO last year. last year resulted in about a 4 month drought.. this year we got 5 inches one storm, 22 inches the next within 10 days and then 5 days after that another 1.

          out here in new mexico.

definetlllllllllllllly cycle action going on.. Enjoy it.

ill enjoy a nice summer knowing the mountains around me will have the ice melting around it and the july rain wont be as bad because the ground is now used to the wetness.

Enjoy the floods to come NYC.

That's why I didn't know. The cars I've had and the one I'm interested in getting soon aren't American models.

From that chart it looks like they drive a lot of Hybrids. I don't know many non-hybrids that have that type of fuel economy.

That's the misconception though. People think you have to drive a hybrid to reach that kind of efficiency, but Europe has always had much better mileage than us just in regular cars. Their cars are much smaller and lighter though which helps. They very rarely drive automatics which help because manual cars are so much lighter than automatics.

If the government copies Japan and Europe and forces people to use less gas, there would be less of a threat to the environment. Even if you believe global warming is BS, think of all the money one would save if all our cars were more efficient.

I do think global warming due to exhaust emissions is complete BS but i'm also in favor of the government offering rewards (tax breaks) for people who buy fuel economical vehicles. My reason is I think it would be better for the U.S. to be much less reliant on foreign oil (which means I also support off shore drilling in the U.S.). On the flip side I never think the government should force or punish people if they want to buy big SUVs or cars.

By the way, I drive a 2007 Saturn Ion 2 btw which is 28/32mpg so unlike Gore I actually practice what I preach.

Good points. I lived in Europe on and off for about 13 years. The cost of gas over there has a lot to do with the size of the cars they drive. I remember in the late 80's gas was around 4 Deuschmarks a liter. That was about $1.70 American then. Pretty steep for a liter. My wife and I loved the rail and bus system throughout Europe. We lived in a very small town in N. Germany and never had any problems getting where we wanted to go.

On a sidenote. Germans love American muscle cars. They would pay a very handsome price for them. If petrol were cheaper in Germany I believe we would see many larger cars and SUV's on the autobahn.

I also agree that the last thing I want is my Goverment telling me what to drive. For the record my wife and I each own a Ford Focus and we both ignore Gore.

I think a lot of it comes down to horsepower in cars. From what I've seen, a car in America sometimes has 100 extra HP than the same car in Europe. To be honest, I want my HP.

Call me nuts, but getting behind the wheel of a car with 300+ HP compared to one with 150 HP makes driving a lot more fun. For someone who drives 60 miles round trip to work everyday, I try to enjoy the time I spend in my car as time to get away from everything.

Don't get me wrong....I'm all for the options of having cars that are more fuel efficient, but I also don't want anyone to take away my right to drive a high HP car either. The way I see it, if one can afford to pay for the gas, far be it from anyone else to tell them what to drive.

Re: Global Warming Never Felt So Good

I didn't read this thread (well I read the last 3 posts) so bear with me. There is just something very unsettling about a "winter" like this one. I've honestly never seen the impact of Global Warming in such a bold way like it has been this year.

This CAN'T be good for the ecosystem at all. We have polar bears being put on the endangered lists, huge chunks of glacial ice breaking off and reports that if things don't change there will be NO marine life on this planet in 40 years!

Now i'm not going to go all ga ga and say we're all to blame for it however I do think humanity plays a role in what is going on. It's clear that Earth is going through a normal warming trend however since the Industrial Revolution and the introduction of Ozone depleting gases we've seen the natural trend going off the charts.

BTW just yesterday I heard on the morning news that according to British Meterologists that this year will be the warmest year EVER on record due to El Nino and C02 gases being pumped into the atmosphere.

It's pretty scary stuff when you sit down and REALLY think about it.

I'm no scientist, but why would he have to disprove a theory when it isn't even "the truth" itself?

Again, can you tell me why Mars ice caps are also melting at the same time this is happening here?

Can you disprove that solar activity has nothing to do with this at all?

How does history back up what's happening right now?

According to some we should be like Monks and Amish people and totally demolish industrial advancements as we know it.
