Thats confused the hell out of me when I first heard him speak after season 1. I knew he wasnt from Baltimore because the accent isnt even close to a Baltimorean accent but I at least thought he was American. Same with McNaulty.

I didn't find out he was British until I watched Takers for the 1st time.

My reaction was like "WTF Stringer is British!?!" Lol

It surprised me too. I forgot if I found out before or after Luthor.

If you didn't know McNulty (Dominic West) is also British.

          Carcetti is Irish right?

Which character has the most authentic accent?

            Yeah.

All of them were near perfect but Dominic West (McNulty) slipped out of his American accent a few times, pretty blatantly here. Watch the HBO language.

I never noticed that, it was pretty obvious. What a talent to pull off an accent, I imagine it would take a lot of training or you can just pull it off. I had a student 2 years ago that could go into a perfect British accent and talk that way all day. I know she got tired of me asking to hear her British.

Watching season 3 for the second time through. It's almost like a completely different series or at the very least a reboot of sorts.

Watching Slapstick right now. Prez, man. Damn.

HBO pull the plug on this thing before even airing episode 1? I had set our DVR to record on the 4th just last week, then yesterday I double check to find Best Man Holiday airing in that time slot instead. No future dates for the week of 9/8 thru 9/14 have The Wire scheduled to air either.

Weird because the show was showing up on my Cox Cable guide less than a week ago.

Re: Ok im late I know, The Wire

Its on HBO Signature, but I'm seeing blog posts showing similar problems.

I finished up season 3 last night. Lord. Bunny Colvin was about 20 years ahead of his time. His speech to Carv about the drug war not being police work is probably my favorite scene of the season and combined with the Western community meeting Carcetti attends with Bunny it certainly has some power to it after the events of this Summer. I can only imagine how the season would have resonated when first aired - particularly Slim Charles' line about "fighting on the lies" of war.

So many layers to season 3 and I loved them all.

I just checked my guide(Verizon FIOS over here)for that time slot and date and HBO had The Hobbit airing on that same exact timeslot.

Did a quick google search and this was the most recent update I found about it which is from yesterday:

Come on HBO, don't do this to us.

                          Via Variety
HBO has confirmed that is in the process of re-mastering the series that ran from 2002 to 2008 and starred Dominic West, Wendell Pierce, Idris Elba, Michael K. Williams and others. HBO had planned a September launch for the marathon, but the episodes are still in review. However, the cat got out of the bag in August when a viewer noticed a promo ad with the wrong premiere date for the marathon. The marathon’s start date is still to be determined.
No word if remastered episodes will be 4:3 ration, or recut to 16:9.

So the good news is the marathon is still on the way. A Blu Ray definitive edition is also rumored to be coming finally.

I'm working my way through season 4 (about 1/3 of the way through) and Chris is probably the most interesting street character. Marlo is vicious, but compared to Avon and Stringer he just seems shallow so far. The school kids are my favorite part of the season so far.

Finished up season 4* and am two episodes into season 5. McNulty is already on my ****-list and I am pretty disinterested in his character at the moment. I guess he crosses everyone, audience included, huh?

I stand by assertion that Chris is the most interesting street character, but Michael is certainly climbing that ladder. Marlo basically feels like a figurehead, but I don't see any innerworkings going on strictly by him apart from him scheming and being trigger happy. I understand I'm suppose to despise the guy as the antagonist and "new, badder blood," but B&B were both evil as hell and I felt conflicted about liking and hating them. I feel like the viewer is forced into Bodie's perspective of Marlo.

It also took me 5 seasons to realize Waylon was ****ing Steve Earle. The cover of the theme song in the 5th season kind of made me realize that was the reason Waylon can't act worth ****.
