I don't think I really have an answer for you. Just kind of my feeling after watching the first 4 or 5 episodes.

The city council guy running for mayor doesn't particularly interest me. And seeing the inner workings of the Barksdale operation in season 1 was cool. Maybe because now that Stringer has kind of taken the reigns from Avon it has become more political and not as "street" if you know what I mean.

And when the cops moved all the drug activity to the projects (for lack of a better term) I was kind of confused. I guess it's a way to fix the problem in a way, but it doesn't seem to be providing much of a conflict, from a TV show perspective. Although I'm guessing it will later in the season.

Don't get me wrong, still a great show and I'm really enjoying it!

I just finished season 1. I love the show so far. Looking forward to starting season 2.

I was looking for a thread that was just about season 1, but I couldn't find one.

I too wish there were specific season threads available for those just now experiencing the show. I have to read comments with one eye closed, if you know what I mean. I liked season 2; it's filled with some interesting characters.

Start a thread for season 2 Dook, see how much traffic it can kick up, just a thought, I would love to discuss the season, I bet others would too.

Busted through the first 4 episodes last night.

Its amazing how you pick up on different things each time you watch an episode. All the little analysis monologues from D about capitalism and business are great.

              Watched "The Pager" last night.

I don't know what it is, but once the 4th or 5th episode rolls around the series just shoots up a whole another notch. Its not a knock against the previous episodes as they're "universe building" and such, but good Lord things start rolling at a crazy clip. Bodie's little side story with Herc and Carver. Prez and Freamon surprising people. McNulty and Bunk's "Mother****er" crime scene sequence. Rawls being an dick inside an unwilling *******. Lt. Daniels getting a spine implant. ******* Omar the Terror.

              Etc.

I know all of these things are present in the first 3 episodes, but once they all click into place, intertwine with and bounce off of each other **** gets good.

Unluckily for me I can't seem to find my season 4 dvds.

Re: Ok im late I know The Wire

This show is so dynamic and from an action standpoint but from the dialogue and character development.

I'm nearing the end of season 3; Major Colvin is my favorite character from this season. What he was attempting with his Amsterdam was so absolutely ridiculous and you knew he knew it was ridiculous, but as the season moves along, he is more able to explain his rationale, which gradually loses its ridiculousness...if that makes a lick of sense. I see him as a major hero and pray he comes out ok in tonight's finale.

Season 3 provided the biggest "Holy Sh.." moment (like the Shark Week commercial with Snuffy the Seal and the announcer's reaction) for me. I was watching it about 11:30 last night and was unable to sleep afterward. Wow!

Good scene with McNulty and Omar too. (Greggs was just along for the ride).

What was so great about all that was City Hall and the Police Department looking ridiculous for being so dismissive of Amsterdam even though it was working.

The whole political play made me sick, as does politics in general. The good people in the trenches, doing the real work, making the real differences are just pawns; easily tossed aside.

I enjoyed season 2 very much, so it took awhile to warm up to season 3 just like what I go through starting a new book following one I enjoyed, but once I did, ever bit as enjoyable as 1 and 2.

I am almost done with season 2, but had a major characters death spoiled by Jim Norton's opening to American Degenerate. What are the odds of that? I've avoided spoilers this whole time and then this. It was a funny opening though.

Here is the opening for those who have finished The Wire

I know the exact scene it happens in and I still say "Hooooly ****, no way" every time I see it.
