D Rose has fallen a long way to be the punch line in a verse.

              LOL

Man I got up this morning, ready to listen to this album. I got through the first disc before I had to go to work. I don't know what I expected. So far, it's a Drake album. It has some lazy radio cuts, it has some super slowed down samples where he talks about things that are personal to him. Jay's verse was apparently recorded in the last week or so with the mention of XXX getting killed. Feels very familiar.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

There should be a new rule that all hip hop albums are between 10-16 tracks from now on.

Drake album is good though. The two best songs are probably the singles, God's Plan and Nice for What. They lift the whole album but that's pretty typical for a Drake project.

I don't like the R&B side and the Rap side either. There are some really nice tracks on side 2. Jaded, That's How You Feel, Blue Tint....but it's hard to listen to a full cape Drake throughout so those songs get kinda buried.

Overall after first listen in the gym, it's pretty decent. Not nearly as good, innovative, or dynamic as Take Care but a lot more enjoyable than Views. Probably somewhere below his first 3 projects and More Life...on the same level as NWTS and IYRTITL.
"Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."

My knee jerk feeling after a brief time spent with the album is I can see myself revisiting it before I ever give the new Nas or Kanye albums another spin.

It’s a Drake album. When I’m in the mood for it, I’ll listen again.

I thought he was talking about Malcolm X, when he said X. Apparently I wasn’t the only one according to the interwebs.

Knowing Jay, I wouldn’t put it past him to be talking about both.

But yeah, saying “It’s a Drake album” is the perfect description of this album. You get your few rap songs, with a little dancehall track sprinkled in along with “I’m up at 4am thinking about past exes for no reasons” Drake songs and the few where women and grown *** men are pulling their IG captions from too.

                    Pusha still bodied him though[emoji1479]

Yeah that's interesting, I didn't see the Malcolm thing at all.

Finally got to sit down and listen to the whole thing through and man, as a huge Drake fan I'm so disappointed. It's not like the songs are all bad, but none of these are going to be in my top 15 Drake songs. I like the intro. Nonstop and I'm Upset both sound lazy as hell, but are growing on me. I liked Elevate heavy but for some reason around like :56 seconds he does this awful "bzzzz" ad-lib and I honestly don't know why he thought it was a good idea, **** sounds awful. I can't play the song on repeat because of it, and I hope he pulls a Kanye and edits it out. Mob Ties sounds like a Young Thug/Lil Baby throwaway. Premo came through on Sandra's Rose, that's a highlight but Drake does his best to ruin it with corny bars like "Worms I just opened up a can of those, my mother had a flower shop but I was Sandra's Rose".

He's doing his best PND impression on Peak, I think I would've preferred PND do that one. Hopefully he does like West District/Days in the East. Summer Games...wow. I had to go to my dad and apologize for all the **** I gave him for making fun of Drake these years. I can't defend this. Ratchet Happy Birthday might actually be one of the worst songs I've heard this year. The MJ song is...alright I guess, kinda odd. I like the second half of Final Fantasy, and the outro of March 14.

NWTS > So Far Gone > Take Care > IYRTITL > Thank Me Later > Views > Scorpion > More Life > WATTBA

The Boy with 732k first week sales, and now holds 7 of the 10 Billboard Top 10 songs list. Just nuts. And this is without the memery of the In My Feelings videos (shout out OBJ). Wild.

Also JID and Ski Mask had their Freshman Cypher yesterday, I'll post it later. JID just does the most, they should've given him his own, no one in this class can rap with him.

What do you think about Slavic/Balkan rap? Can you recommend something? I am looking something in street style.

In my work, I trade because I buy wow items and buy wow accounts so why I am looking for it. I just need to listen to music because I get a tired and little bit sleepy when I am working.
