Then that makes it MustSeeTV for me. I still say The Office should have given him a bit part in this season's series.

Extract - nothing special at all. Was expecting more with that cast and Mike Judge. Mila Kunis is still extremely hot though.

Public Enemies - Fantastic. Depp is his usual brilliant self as Dillinger. Highly recommend.

Marley & Me - If you can watch that movie with your family dog sitting there, a dog that just happens to be a 12 year old golden lab, and not cry, you're more man than I. Our dog looked at me the wrong way while I was watching the movie and I was gone. And i've never cried during a movie, so that was new.

I watched 4 Christmases. It was ok, like what was said, predictable.

You all ever realize how many times Robert Duvall has played the "The Great Santini" type character? You know, the non-supportive, uncompassionate, domineering, hyper-masculine father type. 4 Christmases, Kicking and Screaming, Slingblade(in a sick twisted way) We Own the Night (kinda)...

He is such a great actor, imo, I feel his talents are wasted drastically playing these parts. I guess a Duvall in these roles is better than no Duvall.

I've never really liked Clint as an actor, call me crazy or whatever he just never appealed to me, and I honestly thought this (GT) was one of the most overrated movies I have ever seen. Maybe the second half is significantly better, but the first half bored me so much that I have no interest in ever finishing it.
The second half is def. better. With that being said I don't understand how some folks can't be patient enough with movies like this to set up a movie, often times the payoff is more worth it when it's all set up well than it is when you come into a movie that is just wall to wall action or fast. I guess it's the shorter attention spans nowadays, which really is a shame..

Public Enemies - I'm sure I'll be ripped for this, but I didn't care much for it at all. Seemed very slow and long and honestly I just wanted to turn it off. Maybe I expected too much going in considering Depp and Bale were in it.

The Goods - Was not that good, but did have some funny moments.

So because I thought 45 minutes of a movie were so bad that I didn't want to finish it...I have a shorter attention span? Don't give me that "generational" "kids are different nowadays" crap.

I thought the movie sucked so I turned it off. The "set-up" of the movie was no where near good enough, in my opinion, to justify sitting around waiting for a payoff.

I still need to check that out. I'm a big fan of the Evil Dead movies and I heard Drag Me to Hell was great.

Longhorn - you really don't have a legitimate argument whatsoever considering you didn't finish the movie so you cannot know if the payoff was worth it or not.

Last night I saw Defiance - wow, that movie was great!!

I believe that is why they call it an opinion.

I watched enough of the movie to know that, no matter what happened in the second half, the movie was not worth it, in my opinion. You clearly disagree and that's fine, but don't try and say I don't have a long enough attention span because I disliked a movie so much that I did not want to finish it. It is, literally, only the second movie I have ever turned off half-way (Toys was the other one and that's when I was a little kid) so trust me, I've stuck through quite a few bad ones. This one...just didn't do it for me.

There's been debates on it before when it was found out a movie critic who panned a movie didn't watch the entire thing. The overwhelming opinion that came up there is that you can't honestly have a legitimate opinion on a movie if you don't watch the entire thing. A movie is meant to be experienced as a whole piece of work and for you to have watched less than the entire piece means you can't really judge the work simply because you may have changed your opinion had you watched the entire thing.

To each his own, but in my opinion you can't really have a truly valid opinion on the merits of a movie without watching it how it was supposed to be seen, from start to finish.

Luckily I'm not a movie critic getting paid, presumably, for my opinion. I'm just a...young kid with no attention span who can't appreciate a movie.

And, as an English major, you don't need to see an entire piece of work to judge it. I've started and stopped more books than most people have probably read because they don't capture me. This movie was the same way...the first chunk of the movie, that I saw, was crap and did not capture my attention at all, so I turned it off. That right there is enough for me to think the movie was incredibly overrated. I had heard how amazing it was, read awesome reviews about Eastwood's performance, etc...and it wasn't engrossing enough to make me even want to finish it. That's my definition of overrated.

Would it make you feel better if I watched the last hour and a half or so and came back and said "I still think the movie sucks and is overrated?" because I know, no matter how "good" the second half is, I'm probably still going to hate it. End of story.
