lol, i went into watching that movie and thinking ok. Wilson and Anniston going to be a good comedy. I did NOT expect the movie to be what it was and it was very very sad at the end. Everyone has been there with a pet they loved.

Paranormal Activity - Awesome movie. Not really all that scary (unless you're terrified of really, really loud noises), just fascinating. Watching whatever the hell it is torture that couple into being terrified of it as well as driving the couple further away from each other was one of the more interesting things i've seen all year. Great movie.
SpoilerAnd after viewing the throat slitting, I prefer the theatrical ending. Both are great endings to that story, I think, but there's something about chucking a lifeless body at a camera that strikes me as both awesome and a more appropriate end to the movie.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
I watched Seven Pounds last night. It's one sad movie, but it was really very well done. I have no idea why it got such bad reviews. Maybe because it was depressing, but it's one of those movies that really grabs you and it changed my perspective after seeing it. I thought about it all night, and woke up this morning thinking about it.
As far as the actors, Will Smith and Rosario Dawson had really great performances. Woody Harrelson was good also in a limited role. It's a movie I had to rate 9 on IMDBLast edited by ZB9; 12-30-2009, 06:10 PM.Comment

Spoilerthe big car crash reveal scene seemed like a ridiculous reason for him to be helping all these people. the suicide via jellyfish was random and insuring that your specific organs/body parts got donated to all these specific people made it too difficult for me to suspend my belief for a movie that took itself so seriously.Comment

Finally saw District 9. Very good sci-fi movie. Could definitely tell that there were political overtones. I liked the ambiguous ending---some may hate it. It is begging for a sequal...they should have just let the closing shot say "to be continued" ala back to the futureComment

BTW, I finally was able to see Inglorious Basterds. Wonderful movie. Torentino can totally captivate you with such a simple scene of all dialogue. How he can spin comedy from darkness is genius. I could go on and on about this film.
I must say however, when they do the Pete Carroll story, Christoph Waltz (Colonel Landa) is a dead ringer.Last edited by Hammerhunker; 12-31-2009, 01:18 PM.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Princess - Adult themed, Danish animated movie about a missionary who takes care of his niece after her porn queen mother dies from drug abuse. It turns into a revenge movie when he decides that all material featuring his sister as a porn star should be destroyed, although it is a little more than your typical revenge flick. The animation is crude but after watching, it really fits with the story. Their are also live action bits interwoven in the form old vhs recordings and it works really really well.
If that little synopsis doesn't let you know, this is really really not for kids, so if you decide to watch, make sure you don't have any around. There's a lot of violence and sexually suggestive imagery and flat out disturbing scenes. I thought the movie was really well done. It's available for instant streaming on Netflix for anyone interested.PS: You guys are great.

Invention of Lying - smart movie, really enjoyed it, Rick Gervais (sp?) does an incredible job, and there are some pretty solid cameos. Jennifer Gardner (Afleck?) is still gorgeous as ever.Comment

Ghost in the Shell the movie. Outstanding. I thought the show was good but the movie was way better and I have watched it a few times since and can't get enough of how well written the story was in terms of the main characters paranoid feeling of not being human.
City of Men. Not as great as city of god but just as entertaining. It is a continuation of the show city of men which I did not see but was told it is also good. Definitely a good movie.Comment

Trick R Treat-Disappointing after I've heard so many good reviews on this. I thought it sucked and was confused most of the movie. The only good thing was the werewolf scene in the forest.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal
I kind of jumped in on this when my mom started this up on the DVR. I have no real opinion on it, other than this is more of a movie made for TV. And, if most accounts of these girls' personalities are real, they are indeed true bitches.
I had no idea cheerleading was so popular in this central-southern states.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

You should watch the second movie, GitS 2: Innocence. A movie on par with the first, though not a true sequel as it only references the end of the first movie. Another real movie questioning morality and what makes us human.HELLO BROOKYLN.

The Final Destination: The worst of the entire series. Not only was the acting sub-par which truthfully I wasn't expecting much from any way, it was bad. The story was even worst.
The deaths were over the top and anticlimactic. Too many decapitations. Not sure if its because it was meant to be in 3D and i was watching it in regular 2D, but the special effects were horrible. They looked like something straight out of a SC-FI channel movie; very low budget.
I'm a fan of the series because they think of clever ways to kill people, but this one was really bad, nothing special about it at all
