Saw The Hurt Locker yesterday, really good movie.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :) -

WGN aired Instinct (1999) tonight, and I happened to catch it on a re-run. I feel it is a little under-rated, but not by a vast amount. I loved the theme of the movie, and it kept me up until 4 in the morning, so it couldn't be that bad.Comment

I just watched Babylon A.D. again. It's a great movie, bu I'm still lost. So I'm going to watch it again."Okay, here's the story. I come from the gutter. I know that. I got no education... but that's okay. I know the street, and I'm making all the right connections. With the right woman, there's no stopping me. I could go right to the top."

City of Ember- 7.8
Pretty good movie. I needed something to watch badly and stumbled upon it. Has a pretty interesting cast with supporting actors like Chris Bobbins and Bill Murray.
It's set in a time where people live underground in a city called ember. Their power source is running low and they have to start to look towards a solution. The story and pacing work wonderfully, would have liked a bit more of a back story but good movie nevertheless.Comment

I think Street Kings was also a good movie. If anyone wants to check that out."Okay, here's the story. I come from the gutter. I know that. I got no education... but that's okay. Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Time for another stroll on old movie/public domain road this time with a very young John Wayne. This movie is called The Star Packer (1934). All I can say is, this was er, interesting. Honestly this was an hour i'll never get back.
This movie is probably the best known of Wayne's early B Westerns but it's far from being his best. Here's the summary and i'll get into some of the more peculiar aspects of this:
John Travers and his Indian companion Yak are after the mysterious Shadow and his gang. When Sheriff Davis is killed, Travers becomes Sheriff. Catching two gang members, he learns of the room where the gang gets their orders from behind a fake wall safe and makes plans to trap the Shadow.
The baddie of the movie known as The Shadow (gee how generic can you get?) was played by a pre-scruffy beard George "Gabby" Hayes. I gotta say he was completely different from the usual irascible old codger he usually played in the majority of films he was in and it was quite refreshing to see him more or less close to his real voice and mannerisms.
The movie makes no sense though. I mean The Shadow contacts his gang through a fake wall safe in the backroom of a saloon. How the heck does he know it's his guys? It could be anyone knocking on the safe to get his attention! Then there's the crazy scheme at the end of the movie where he plans with his gang to shoot everyone in the town with a huge machine gun. I have no clue what purpose this served other then to be some "heinous" act.
The movie was also pretty slow and plodding so the hour felt a lot longer then the actual running time. Nonetheless the novelty of seeing a young John Wayne and Gabby Hayes in a different type of role held my interest. I can't really recommend this but I give it 1 1/2 stars out of 5.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
