Just messing with you, I really want to see this movie. I would assume that is time in theaters is running out.
you know what, the movie give me a strong Left4Dead vibe; if Left4Dead was a movie, it would be called Zombieland

My wife and I took our 4 kids to see "Disney's - A Christmas Carol"...honestly, I loved it. Yeah, some stuff was a bit far-fetched, but that's the beauty of this movie (brought some of the 3-D aspects out). But I loved how 1800's London came out of this movie with regard to the "darkness" of it...some of the scenes were just picturesque and beautiful. Our kids are ages 4 to 10 and they loved it...Had a few "scary" moments, but there's something there for both adults and children to enjoy. I know some people are being hard on this movie (yeah, the eyes of the characters always seem a bit distant) but overall a very fun experience. Some will disagree, but that's okay - everyone sees things differently. I liked it...

Fantastic movie. Daniel Craig is fantastic in it. I don't often find myself actually rooting for people in movies, but it's tough not to actually root for a ragtag army of Jews against the Nazi war machine.

I definitely second this. Based on a true story... even if 10% of it is authentic, it's more than 99.9% of us can handle.

Not great, certainly not as good as the first one, but also nowhere near as bad as a lot of people make it out to be.

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1

A little lengthy but here goes:

                La Vie en Rose

A movie based on Edith Piaf. I had no clue on who she was until i saw the movie today. I had to watch it for my Management 305 class. Makes no sense why, but the teacher claims she wants us to use the imagery of France as well as the atmosphere and compare it to North America's Maine of the 1940s.

So it was me and these three pretty chicks in the group, the other team member who happens to be a guy couldn't show up today, but we decided to watch the movie anyway. The chicks were already disappointed because the movie was only in french with English subtitles.

But they managed through it (2 hours and 21 minutes) and found it alright. I on the other hand was blown away. Not only was the movie amazing, but the life of Edith really captivated me.

The movie is about her life and how she rose to fame. She originated from truly nothing. Her father was a member of the circus and her mother had dreams and aspirations of becoming famous, so much so that she completely ignored Edith as a child. The father came and took Edith away to i guess his mother who ran a whore house and let her stay there for a while. She grew an attachment with one of the ladies there but was taken away by the father later.

As the movie goes on, we're treated to a couple versions of her, a teenager, a young lady and an old women. To see her change as well as become a truly gifted performer was wow.

The end left me sad though, her body became soo fragile. At the age of 44 she looked like a 70 year old women. She put her body through a lot so she could continue to perform. The way she died almost brought a tear to my eye. She understood that she was loosing her memory and everything became a blur.

The acting was truly phenomenal. The actress playing Edith was AMAZING!!!! and the supporting cast was superb. It's so sad that artist like this aren't remembered too much or talked about to today's youth.

So I'll say adu to the "Voice of France"

                9.2

Finally watched "Frost - Nixon" ... I enjoyed it from a character/theatrical point of view. After doing some research, Ron Howard took some liberty with the truth of the situation surrounding Nixon (the "phone call scene" was made up). But the intense dialogue of the interviews was fun to watch and I felt Nixon's character was extremely well done. I'd recommend it to any history buff...I liked it.

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1

Yesterday I watched a fairly good if somewhat predictable melodrama from 1950 called Born to be Bad starring Joan Fontaine, Robert Ryan and Zachary Scott. Here's the summary:

Christabel fools everyone with her sweet exterior including her cousin Donna and Donna's wealthy fiancée Curtis. The only one who sees through her facade is Nick, a rugged writer who loves her anyway. Christabel also loves Nick, but she loves Curtis' money more. After convincing Curtis that Donna is only interested in him for his money, she tricks Curtis into marrying her. Of course, she still dallies with Nick on the side.
Fontaine was a bit too old for the part of Christabel but pulls it off masterfully with the way she plays everyone off in order to get what she wants. In the end she gets what's coming to her but the ride toward the conclusion was quite entertaining.

I also thought that Joan Leslie who played Donna did a great job. It's a pretty thankless role but you could see how she was tricked into turning against her fiance and then later on realizing it was indeed all a dirty trick by Christabel to get what she wants.

The movie starts off very slowly but somehow I stuck through the first 20-25 minutes and was rewarded with a well acted little gem of a picture.

2 1/2 out of 5 stars (mainly on the strength of the acting)

Frost-Nixon was a great movie, really enjoyed. I also did research on the whole matter after the movie, never really read into it all until I saw the movie.
