    World's Greatest Dad (Robin Williams)

Nothing like I expected. At all.

Really a great movie but it's so freaking dark and depressing.

I'd recommend it to people that like really dark, off-beat comedies.

At first I thought you were talking about the Robin Williams/Travolta/Seth Green movie, ha. Bob Goldthwait comes up with some weird/dark comedy stuff. I keep forgetting to put this in my queue.

Lmao, yeah I don't think this is much like "Old Dogs."

It wasn't in my Instant Queue but I just happened to come across it going through the comedies available for instant stream.

            You should check it out.

Old Dogs was on at my parents house a few weeks ago and that had to be one of the bigger pieces of crap I have ever seen. I decided to leave after about 35 minutes of it. Horrible.

If that was a bot up there then damn they're getting smart!

Anyways I watched 3 movies since last I posted. I won't go into long review mode but will give a couple or so lines of what I thought, rating and a recommendation to you guys for one film.

The Story of G.I. Joe (1945) This movie told the story of famous WWII war correspondent Ernie Pyle and the boys of C Company. This is probably one of the best war movies of the period not necessarily in structure but in tone and the set pieces of action which would be just as gripping today. Burgess Meredith does a great job of portraying Pyle and even though as the star of the film he isn't seen THAT much you do feel his prescence throughout. Robert Mitchum plays Lt/Cpt Bill Walker and it's one of the few roles in his career that he's outright likable. There's a scene in which he talks about the pain and the emotional toll of having to write out telegrams informing the deaths of soldiers then seeing new soldiers, just kids really coming in, scared and having to fight in the war.

This movie easily gets 4 stars from me and while it's slow for modern audiences i'd recommend you guys check it out. The title is seemingly out of print but you can get it on the secondary market for sure.

Background to Danger (1943) You know how we use the phrase "poor man's _________" as a bit of a backhanded compliment? Well George Raft wasn't just a poor man's Humphrey Bogart he was a homeless man's Humphrey Bogart. The guy is little remembered today but is best known for turning down the roles that made Humphrey Bogart into a movie legend. Audiences probably best remember him for his supporting role in Some Like it Hot. (1959) Anyways, this movie is in the Casablanca (1942) vein with intrigue in an exotic location. It involves Raft as a US agent posing as a machinery magnate passing through Turkey He gets mixed up in international intrigue as a young woman gives him faked maps that show the Russians plans to invade Turkey. This is all part of the Nazis plan led by Sydney Greenstreet to use said maps as a means to inflame the Turkish people and to make it a Nazi controlled state. Things get even more interesting as Peter Lorre and his sister are also hot on the trail of maps as they're Russian agents. Lorre seemed a bit bored with this part as he really overacted to the point of comedic effect.

Nonetheless unlike Casablanca and other movies of that ilk this one is a little easier to follow along and while Raft is his usual self, meaning very flat line readings yet still having screen prescence to be a star one couldn't help but wish Bogart was in the lead role as he'd jazz up the proceedings quite a bit. It's nice to have Greenstreet and Lorre in the film though as they were in a couple or so films with Bogart in this period. Greenstreet gives his character charm yet still evoking the evil of nazism. The movie gets a solid 2.5 stars from me.

Nocturne (1946) Another Raft film and this time in his more familiar somewhat noirish settings. In this flick he plays a police detective that is determined to find out who killed a composer while the force feels that it was suicide. This movie was needlessly complicated with far too many twists and turns but there were a few left elbow scenes that made watching it almost worthwhile. Mabel Paige who plays Raft's mother lights up the screen every time she's in the picture and its her scenes that give this flick some life. Otherwise though this could've been better and Raft, who can be good in certain roles just didn't have the emotional punch for this material. I give it 2 stars as the film had a lot of promise and the overall story was interesting but it went way off the rails by the last 3rd of the way.

Paranormal Entity- Sound like Paranormal Activity? It was a complete rip-off of Paranormal Activity. Most of the film was shot via camcorder and there were cameras set up in a few different rooms during the night to catch any activity. The footage was found one year after the killings and this is a true story and blah blah blah. If you've seen Paranomal Activity this is even a lower-budget and lower quality film. Acting sucked also.

I loved Paranormal Activity and I thought this film ok, just didn't lack any creativity at all. If you hated PA then you will hate this even more, if you liked PA then I would at least check this out as it has some ok moments in it.

And the sister in the movie has nice boobs, and they show it in this movie so I guess that's one plus.

Just saw 7 Pounds...pretty good. Original in some aspects and it wasn't an obvious ending etc., there were the elements that are supposed to help you think of what is happening next of course like any good movie/novel should have though. It's worth a rent- and you may find it slow at the start, but it will pull you in.

Watched Slammin Salmon. Meh, guess it wasn't my type of humor. After about 20 minutes in, I was bored. Seemed like a less raunchy and less entertaining version of Waiting.

I'm guessing it's one of those Asylum movies like "Transmorphers."

Just watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

I'm surprised I just now got around to watching this. It truly is a fantastic movie.

I'd say it's well-deserving of all the praise it gets.
