Pretty good movie a bit on the syrupy side but you expect that from Disney. I saw the original from the '50s for the first time about a year ago and it definitely wasn't all saccharin as the Disney remake but you could see the basis for what Disney did.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Yep from 1951 the team that gets help from God are the Pittsburgh Pirates. Interestingly they probably need God's help today 60 years later!Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I always found it hilarious that Disney very obviously made this remake because they were a huge figure in the Anaheim franchise."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

The Last Circus
Well I'm pretty sure it's the first romcomdramedythrilorror movie I've seen. A couple of lines in the first 10 minutes pretty much made it worth watching for those alone. The lead female also makes it worth watching. Imagine Beauty & the Beast,Phantom of the Opera and Pagliacci combined, half directed by Shakesphere and the other half directed by Rob Zombie.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Dazed and Confused - Of the "last days/week" of high-school films (namely Fast Times and American Graffiti), I think this is the best. It is an awesome movie. I love the way that it links all these crazy stories together as the story is basically developed around how these kids hung out back then as it switches between cars at meet-up spots. Ben Affleck is great in this and probably my favorite role of his because its okay to hate him in this movie because he is just being himself - a total and complete tool. Matthew McConaughey is just superb. There is something sad, but ultimately cool about his character.
