Will be buying it on BR as soon as I head to a store for my next round of pick-ups.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I'm not saying the story wasn't worth watching or having the rest of the way through, but it got slightly exhausting (which can mean a good thing, btw)... or rather anticlimatic like it wanted to build in a new segment. It's like most people's problems with The Dark Knight; they built in maybe one too many tirades for The Joker at the end.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I liked Foxx in the role, but up until the last 30 minutes it was really more about Waltz.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
It wasn't that it dragged it was that it ceased making sense, continued to not make sense and then became very cartoony/absurd in the bad way where it pretty much turned into a parody of itself.Comment

In that case I just completely disagree with you. Nothing about the last half hour seemed any more cartoony than the rest of the movie, and it all made sense to me. What are you referring to? I'm interested to see.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
It felt more like an epilogue to me than part of the movie. I felt like the movie itself ended at the first fade-out as the tone/atmosphere of the last part just felt different to me.

Watched Crazy, Stupid, Love today. I really enjoyed. Ryan Gosling does a great job in most movies he does, I think.
Funny thing about Carrell. I never really enjoyed him too much on The Office (especially in the later seasons), but I tend to enjoy his films, especially the ones that are a lot more down to earth and dramatic, like this one or Dan in Real Life.Comment

I haven't seen Django since I watched it in theaters. I remember walking out thinking it was the best movie I'd seen in theaters in a long while. Great flick, can't wait to actually watch it for a second time.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Looking forward to seeing Django...but one of the charms of Tarentino's flicks is that he loves to remind you that you are watching a movie. It's like he's sitting next to you, elbowing your side and mirthfully pointing at the screen like 'isn't this a COOL flick?'.
Perfect example is seeing Hugo Stiglitz for the first time in Basterds. DUH DUUUH!!! That's broad, but you know what I mean.
This for example:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/TLwjCvxp8AQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
or Mr. Stonecipher.
The last 30 minutes is in a bad way after the 12 minutes it stops making sense.
SpoilerIt doesn't make sense from the point they find out Broomhilda is the one King and Django are actually there for. Candie's plan becomes sell them her for $12k. Why would he do that? They're already on the hook for $12k for Eskimo Joe which is "ridiculous",they can get that and later on extort them for even more for her. Money becomes the motivation at that point. Even then they could've just shot them and taken their money, kept the girl and Eskimo Joe,they clearly had more than $12k on them. They didn't know they were bounty hunters at that point so the previous logic used at the farm doesn't apply. His over willingness to just sell the girl for $12k undoes much of the plot itself as at that point it seems apparent had they just walked up and said "I'm German,I need a slave that speaks German,I'll give you $12k for her." they would've had her. Then even if you write off not shooting them and taking their money as some sort of Southern honor said honor would've been extremely offended and no longer apply. Then King and Candie die. That's part of the reason it took a dive too, losing the 2 of the 3 best actors.
Now the entireity of Candieland starts shooting at Django. Yet when he gives up they decide he's going to be a slave a mining company. The old school Bond villian moment of just shoot the guy. If they weren't gonna shoot him why not make him work at Candieland with his wife in the box every day? That'd be worse than the mine.
Then everything with the Aussies and afterwards was just plain flatout dumb. Turned into a bad version of Shoot 'Em Up.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I think I can understand what you're saying about the end unraveling a bit, but I don't necessarily see it that way because, and I'm trying to recollect a film I haven't seen since the first time several months ago, but
SpoilerFirst of all, I don't think it was that hard to suspend disbelief, but Candie is just being spiteful at this point. I don't think the motivation is money any longer once he discovers their real plan. He's infuriated that they're trying to get one over on him, and why drag on a situation too far that could clearly come back and bite you in the ***? Just prove your point, as a big **** you, with a smile on your face, and further rubbing it in as you demand the hand shake. Fits Candie's personality. Also, if they just ask about a slave that speaks German, then that seems rather fishy given that they would have no way of having known about her until arriving, at which point they have made clear their sole intention is to buy a fighter.
I somewhat agree about the just shoot him moment, but there is clearly more spiteful thinking in that his fate at the mine will be much more miserable, that ending his life would be too quick. They want a long, tortured, drawn out end for him, while not allowing him the proximity to his wife or knowing her fate, especially after they've seen what he's capable of. It could also be a sort of commentary on slavery in general, that these people thought slavery was a better punishment than death.Comment

- Best film I've seen all year. Loved Blue Valentine and the structre of this was just awesome. (Bradley Cooper doesn't even show up until like an hour in). I was a huge fan of Blue Valentine and recommend seeing this as well.Comment
