I thought Brooks & Reiner had something to do with Steve Martin's "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid" (which I think is genius), but discovered Brooks wasn't involved.

Oh man, Young Frankenstein. Another one to add to the rewatch pile.

Finally watched Birdman. What a great movie. All around excellent acting, and good satire. I can see how it might not be for everyone, as it was very meta/abstract.

I enjoyed the references with Keaton/Batman and Ed Norton/Fight Club, though I'll leave that last one alone since it may not be obvious and I can't use spoilers on my phone.

I definitely recommend it. If you've got HBO, it's playing on there now.

            Sixth Sense

Still as good as I remembered and its a classic in my book.

            Focus

Stars Will Smith and Margo Robie. Its about a professional con artist taking in a protege into there ring of pick pockets and con artist. It started out fantastic with all the con artist philosophy and pick pocket tricks they did. It was grounded for the fist half or so then bam, then it becomes Oceans 11 all of a sudden. Becomes a totally different movie after that and it spoiled it for me.

Margo and Will were really good though. The chemistry was pretty good between them and I'm hopeful for them to work out in Suicide Squad.

Not saying I didn't enjoyed it but man, they could have had a special movie like Matchstick Men but fell flat at the end.

Very strange movie. I'm not sure if I liked it or not.

Same here. I really appreciate what they were going for, but this one just wasn't my bag. Oddly compelling, though.

                  Love and Mercy.

From Rotten Tomatoes: LOVE & MERCY presents an unconventional portrait of Brian Wilson, the mercurial singer, songwriter and leader of The Beach Boys. Set against the era defining catalog of Wilson's music, the film intimately examines the personal voyage and ultimate salvation of the icon whose success came at extraordinary personal cost.

This was confusing at first, but you soon learn that early Wilson, played by Paul Dano (who, let's face it, is good at playing 'weird') and the latter days Wilson, played by John Cusask, is one and the same. Dano pulls it off, it seems, but Cusack just doesn't cut it. Maybe it's because a lot of us see Brian Wilson in the public eye from time to time and Cusack just doesn't sound or look like him...not in the least. Also, I have trouble seeing Giamatti (Wilson's psychiatrist) in these kind of roles. But, the story behind it is interesting and revealing. Watching "The Wrecking Crew" already spoke to what a studio genius Brian Wilson was, which probably most of the general public had no idea. Personally, I was never a Beach Boys fan, but this shed a new light on what they were about.

                          Unfriended

Wife and I were just looking for a movie to watch as we fell asleep. The run time was right. I thought I would fall asleep halfway through it. I was pleasantly surprised. None of the acting blew me away but the premise and a new take on "found footage" thrillers was enough to keep us watching through the end. Better than I expected.

Here's the bad news: I hadn't seen Inglorious Basterds until this past weekend., despite it being at the top of my "need to see it" movie list.

The good news is it's on Netflix so I got a chance to watch it, and of course it was awesome. I'm a Tarantino fan, and this movie only solidified that.

Finally saw Gone Girl. Extremely well done but no doubt its impact on me was diminished because I had read the book when it came out. Still very good though.

                                Mad Max: Fury Road

I still think it's the best movie of the year and one of the best action movies of the past decade. For as straight forward and simple as the story line is there is still a good amount of depth to the whole package.

Now to try and stave off picking up the game and getting lost in the Wasteland.
