I have forgotten how quickly the ending comes on you after Pacino delivers his famous "and you're out of order" litany on everyone. I mean it goes from this semi-iconic scene to this comedic ending to this **** song so quickly, you have to do a double take. It's too bad because it's a fine movie overall.
Yeah, it was. Pacino overacted a bit- Forsythe was a perfectly creepy villain, and young Christine Lahti was mouth watering!!

M*A*S*H Still holds up pretty well. Other than know what jokes/scenes were coming, the interplay of the characters showed such great chemistry. The opening scene in jumping right in with Radar and his skill sets is classic.

Watched Kill List last night because I had seen a lot of people praise it. It was not what I thought it would be and I thought it was just bizarre. Disappointed

          Dang, sorry to hear that.

One of my favorite films. I spent a long time reading through discussions and interpretations of the films meaning and metaphors.

The tunnel scene was pretty intense though, gotta admit, right?

What movies have you seen recently?

Watched the Point Break remake from last year the other night.

I knew it wasn't well received, so my expectations were pretty low. I mean, the original was no masterpiece but it has a cult following. Busey and Keanu Reeves, enough said.

Remake was action packed, and the storyline followed the original. Just felt a little substanceless and more about the incredible stunts -- and they are breathtaking. The actor who plays Johnny Utah does a pretty good Keanu impression. Bodhi can't touch Swayze's Bodhi though, but that's a tough act to follow especially posthumously. The zen stuff is too much, but I'm sure the original's was too. It's been a while since I watched it.

Fun, action packed but not exactly a good movie in my super-mega-certified expert opinion.

What I like to do when it comes to new remakes (or any remakes really) is to watch the original then the remake back to back and that way the comparison can be made easier. Of course, if you favor one style or a group of actors over the other than you might have perceived biases but at least that way you can make a solid comparison without just going off of memory.

Just a little insight into how I do things. I'm sure most wouldn't go that extreme

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

So i'm catching up on some modern movies I haven't seen yet and started with the last two Transformers movies. I actually came away....feeling better about the franchise than I did before. There was a far better mix of the human story and the Transformers. I felt that Dark of the Moon still had too much of the silliness that typified the first two films BUT the actual story was pretty sound for the most point. The tone felt a little inconsistent at times as it was quite good when they were moving the story along without the "humor" aspects but once they injected that "humor" it got on my nerves. all in all though it was much improved.

Age of Extinction gave this series new life and a tonal shift that it badly needed, having Mark Wahlberg as the lead allowed for a more grounded approach. There were some vestiges of the old comedy stuff but all in all it told a more nuanced story. (well for this series at least) Stanley Tucci was EXCELLENT as the arrogant KSI boss and I liked that his character had development and grew to be a better person by film's end. AOE is easily the best of the Transformers movies and it gives me some hope that The Last Knight will continue to head in a more serious direction.

Maybe Ritchie's best film? I love all his stuff so it's hard to pick just one. That dude's style is amazing.

His new King Arthur movie looks pretty awesome too

It's got to be the best of Ritchie's directing career IMO.

Finally saw Argo last night. Good film and I was into it the whole time, but I don't know where it's Oscar noms really fall into place here. John Goodman, as little as he was in it, was good for some light comic relief. Affleck transformed a bit from what I normally see in him, which was good. Definitely captured that 70s/80s film feel. I'd recommend it but won't bow down to it.

I thought you were talking about the Dwayne Johnson movie Snitch, and I was going to say, "Umm..."

I definitely have to add Snatch to my watch list though. I was less impressed by Ritchie's RocknRolla. I mean that film is okay, but I thought he'd do more after his Sherlock Holmes films.

Watch Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) first if you haven't seen that either. They're not related but the two films have a thematic and tonal similarity.

                            I agree.

I thought that there were 4 movies also nominated for the award that deserved it more than Argo. Hell my favorite movie that year was Skyfall, which probably didnt come close to being nominated for the award. That year I really liked Silver Linings Playbook and Zero Dark Thirty.

I thought Lock, Stock was good but still did not hold a candle to Snatch. Maybe because I watched Snatch first and thought it set the bar so high.

Same here. Snatch is very high up on my list. Statham and Pitt were standouts, and Jason in particular was fantastic in a non-action role.
