Glad to see you guys enjoying your new Nexus. I feel the same about my new GS2 with regard to the size. I upgraded from an Evo. The size difference is definitely noticeable lol. I too am planning on staying stock for awhile. I know i'll get the itch though. I want my free wi-fi tethering back lol.

My battery gets drained rather quickly due to the Android market running in the foreground. Don't know exactly how yet to set data limits and/or how to make it run only in the background.

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
GS2 has a task manager....Samsung didn't include that on the Nexus? Also i'd imagine if 4G is constantly long, that would kill the battery quickly."Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
the market "running" constantly isn't going to do anything to battery life. things you may want to check are make sure gps is off, for some reason android phones always have it on as a default. turn your screen brightness down, and if you're not planning on using it, turn 4g off until you actually need it. with that said, the battery life on a new phone is always going to be bad because you're gonna be so busy playing with the phone it'll die faster than usual.Comment

There's a way to set data limits..I just have to read up on it.
And I don't run 4G when I'm indoors.

I don't know about the older versions but ICS has a Data Usage feature that shows you which apps/functions have the most usage. It's the Android market by far on my phone.

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
It's completely legal, the bootloader isn't encrypted.
We may be just days away from the release of the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon, and I’m sure that many are starting to think about this whole bootloader unlocking process. As a Nexus device, the bootloader does not have to be bypassed or hacked like you have probably had to do... #Bootloader #GalaxyNexus
There's a link I found, though I haven't tried it yet (just leaving work in 5 mins or so, and I've only installed some of the stuff).
It's a bit to install, but I'd also like to learn android programming, so not too bad for me.). It's very easy with the directions you sent to me. I had to DL a different USB driver though from here:

Thanks again...I just unlocked it this morning (shhhh...don't tell my employer!). It's very easy with the directions you sent to me. I had to DL a different USB driver though from here:

Pretty easy though, and now whenever we want to root or get into the ROM (legal!) fun we won't have to deal with that....
I know there are ways to back up your phone prior to doing that stuff, but haven't gotten into it enough. Stock ICS is good for me for a while.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
I'm starting battery testing today...had full charge when I left, and we'll see after a somewhat "normal" day of use.
I may still bring a USB cable from home and charge it more at work (probably not a bad idea in general) but I'm thinking this can make it through a day for me. We'll seeNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
Literally the ONLY problem I have with the Galaxy Nexus is not syncing Facebook to Contacts. I'm seriously considering putting the Modaco ROM on this so I can do that. I don't care about the spat, really. I just want to know who is calling me.Rose City 'Til I Die
