Thank you two for your quick responses.

It definitely makes for an interesting dilemma for me. I want to walk out of the store with a new mobile, I'm thoroughly sick of my current phone and need something new.

I'll mess with the Note 2 and get a feel for it but if I decide to go a different route I'm not sure what I'll go with. Any other solid alternate choices from you two?

Or is there anything else that I'd want to be looking at simply not been released yet?

That's the thing, I read it will be ABLE to support it, I'm sure hackers will make it happen, not sore if T-mo themselves will make it happen.

Honestly, Bolt, I think you would be set with this phone. I will go on my lunch break to the T-Mo store and see if I can mess with it for a bit...and if it's all I ever dreamed of, I'll make the stop when I get home.

Tmo=TMobile.

LTE will become the standard in the next year or so. If you're stuck (I mean that facetiously) with a phone for a year and a half, might as well get one that can support the next data standard. Engadget's review says it won't support it officially:

Seriously, don't get a phone that doesn't support LTE. 2 years is a long time,and LTE won't be going away in 2 years. I'm not even 100% sure we'll have the "next LTE" in 2 years. LTE vs 3G is noticeable.

*This is for us somewhat cutting edge guys, people who don't really use their phones much other than normal use probably could be ok with a cheap 3G phone*

Well, T-mobile has a decent HSPA+ in NY area, which is a step up from 3G. However, I would have another upgrade in half a year anyway. :wink:

Bolt, think of it this way - you don't upgrade very often. You SHOULD jump in on the greatest thing out there. You will be happy for a much longer time as new devices come out and yours continues to be supported.

Exactly!

Though as a side thought I do think the phones of now will stand up better to time. When I got my Galaxy Nexus it was 2 1/2 years or so since the Droid 1 came out, and there was a huge difference in quality/performance/speed.

I think my next phone in a year or so will be better than the GN, but the GN won't feel quite as slow/laggy as my Droid did over time.

This is nice cause it'll give us the ability to wait for a solid phone to come out.

I went to the T-mobile on 3rd ave and they had them in, obviously, but none to look at. Disappointing.

I think I'm all set on getting it but just want to be able to use it beforehand.

I'm damn near dead set on picking up the Note 2. We'll see what happens once I get there. In my head I keep going back & forth on this.

You are right. The devices now are just emulating desktop processors with multiple cores. The Tech industry doesn't have much to look forward to as most mobile OS software do not even take advantage of the multiple cores. This is why it is frustrating to read people argue duo vs quad core CPU's on their phones when most apps aren't even written to take advantage of this. Most use one core anyway.

You're good with the Note2 for quite a while - we're only going to be seeing bumps in RAM and newer chips/gpu's doing the same thing just more efficiently. Nothing groundbreaking....

I think the size of the phone/tablet is the only thing you need to be 100% sure of, Bolt. Putting it in your pocket when you're on the go, using it as a phone to your ear, etc.

It is not just noticeable, there is no comparison. I'm on Verizon and have unlimited data through my company, I can get speeds that are around 15Mbps depending on where I'm at. Those speeds are close to my home internet and I usually just create a wireless hotspot to get on the internet on my laptop when not at home.

Yea that is definitely one of my main concerns. And as much as I'm leaning towards it, I'm also apprehensive because of the size issue and how practical it will be.

I went after work and sat there and debated. I messed with it for about 35 minutes or so. I loved it and the size didn't bother me at all.

I didn't walk out of the store with it sadly, I'm going to sleep on it now that I got to hold the damn thing and mess with it.
