Is it any good? I find myself deleting lots of apps ever since I got Amazon app store.
Gingerbread should be out for Droid X users June 1. Per Droid Life.

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
Looking into what's happening with the Evo 3D. Eligible for an upgrade on July 1 but I'm sure if I switch over to the 3D when it comes out (rumored to be sometime this month) I'm sure they'll give it.
Only problem is no keyboard. Ugh. But everything else looks fantastic.Comment

If you do update. Backup your contacts. A lot of my contactes were erased. Some had been in my phones for years and they were instantly gone. I lost maybe 40-50 numbers.Moderator

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
I'm doing some research for a first smartphone, so hopefully you guys can help me out...
First of all, the wife & I have Verizon service and I'm the secondary line, so hopefully I'll be eligible. Two guys who seemed disinterested in helping me at a local store told me I would be, but didn't look up our account, so I'm still skeptical.
As for the phones, my main preference is for as small & light as possible; I'll be heading to the Verizon store soon to handle the real phones... that 3rd-party store only had the shells. Looking online I've narrowed it down to a few candidates:
HTC Incredible2 (best "value" it seems)
Samsung Fascinate (only has OS 2.1... are they planning to update?)
HTC Thunderbolt (played with one and it's heavy... but cool)
Samsung Charge (the biggest one, but still rather light)
The first two are 3G and the second two are 4G. Those of you who have used both types, how much of a difference is it? I don't necessarily need the biggest/baddest/fastest... but I also don't want to be stuck with a POS phone in a year. EDIT: Both where I live and work are covered by Verizon 4G.
Any info on the phones or the general stuff is greatly appreciated.Last edited by Qb; 06-07-2011, 11:11 AM.Comment

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
QB, if you visit www.droid-life.com they could give you some rather good info positives and negatives on all those phones.
I have the original Droid X. My GF's uncle has the Thunderbolt. We were sitting side by side and from what I could tell his 4G phone was fractional faster than my pone on the internet and what not. But that was a small sample.Moderator

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
Thanks, N51. I spent the past half hour at Droid Life after seeing it mentioned in a post or two.
After reading their reviews, I think I'm going with the Incredible2... as long as me being the second line doesn't screw with the price or require us to add anything more than the data plan. I can live without 4G (for now) considering my current phone is at 3 or 4 years old and I didn't even have a data plan.Comment

Re: Official Android Discussion Thread
Ditto on this. Droid Charge is very nice. 4G is fast fast fast. The screen is amazing and the battery life is decent.Last edited by choadler; 06-07-2011, 06:08 PM.Comment
