Oh she's smoking. But Supergirl is kind of a boring to character, and her existence waters down Superman somewhat.
That particular scene is fantastic for obvious reasons though.

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Good interview with Goyer (after the film's release) that echoes what most people who liked the movie keep saying - this is about Kal-El/Clark Kent becoming Superman, a rookie, and not a hero who just shows up fully-formed.
SpoilerDo you think that the destruction of Metropolis will represent a learning curve for Superman in future films?
Of course. If we’re dealing with Superman and Clark six months or a year after this experience, there’s going to be a learning curve and he’s going to understand his place in the world more. The other thing is, he may not have chosen to come forward prior to Zod threatening the planet. This decision was thrust upon him, not one of his choosing. He did the best job he could, in terms of saving people and stopping Zod. Some people say, “Well, why wasn’t Zod arrested?” Actually, there was a line in the script we cut because it’s obvious, but it asked, “What prison would hold him?” [Laughs] There’s no prison on the planet that can hold him and Zod says, “Either you die or I die.”

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
I'd welcome her simply because how many other female super heroes are there on screen? Plus, her backstory was tied directly to Clark's being her ship and all. It seems kind of silly to have her backstory already there and her knowingly existing in the universe and not have her appear in some form in the future.
I don't think it would water Clark down at all.

What seems logical and doesn't need to be said for some to get it....needs to be spelled out for others. I think there is a longer film cut with scenes that cover so much of what bothers people...but it's like 3 and a half hours to 4 hours long probably.Comment

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
I'll be very happy if there's a director's cut/extended version for the blu-ray. A more flesh-out backstory of Clark's time on Earth? Longer epilogue? Yes, please. The prison thing is a lot like other things in the film.

You're bordering on trolling with comments like this and it's not the first time.
You don't agree that people don't like the film, fine. Don't insult my intelligence in the same breath.
I'll be waiting for you to tell me what things I needed spelled out since all of us that didn't enjoy the film clearly missed all of the subtlety of this amazing plot.

You want 'missed'?
The whole time I thought Kevin Costner was Sam Neill.

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Saw it on Saturday night w/ the Mrs.
It was okay but I was disappointed.
I agree with others that the fight scenes were too big and overbearing. By the end of the movie I was hoping for shorter fight scenes. I was actually mad when the final showdown started, I was like "really, we have to sit through this one more time?" It was almost like they were just trying to show off the great visuals/effects and wound up overdoing it. 5-10 minute fight scenes between people that can't really die gets old.
But I liked the story and the way it was handled for the most part. I was never a huge fan of Superman stuff (much more Batman, but never THAT big into any comic stuff). I think the next movie in the series will be an improvement."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
I think the final fight scene was well done. But since they had already overdone the super fight for so long earlier in the film (seriously, the Smallville fight took forever) it seemed watered down. They cut down that initial fight scene and make it a more brief encounter, more of a tease, than the final fight scene becomes much more epic. But as is, it's just a redux of the first scene, only in Metropolis this time, and against one Kryptonian instead of two.Saw it on Saturday night w/ the Mrs.

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Well, as ehh said and I've mentioned a couple of times, watching two "invincible" guys go at it just kind of leaves you bored at times. Plus it got a bit awkward with them being klutzy by destroying every building. It's like in Brave when that bear clumsily destroys everything inside because it's too big.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
I didn't have a problem with them being "invincible". There was enough emotion built up to offset that anyways. I definitely agree that the Smallville fight could have been much shorter though and that it probably did take away from the final fight with Zod.
I'm still really itching to go this a second time BTW.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
They aren't really invincible, though. I guess if you look at like they are, it's a boring fight. They can obviously hurt or kill each other (otherwise, they'd still be fighting). It's no different to me that the big fight in Iron Man, etc.Comment

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Well right, that's what I felt in The Avengers as well. Tony's suits always take a good beating and he gets disabled in many ways during a fight, though.
And I didn't feel the "wear and tear" in the fights. I guess I meant to say the thrown punches didn't amount to the victor, not even close. Just a bit of yawn-fests to me. They are certainly spectacular in that they are spectacles, but like Iron Man... not too fun of fights with the repetition.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
