This is why you don't want a standard surge protector:

I made my first stupid mistake yesterday with the plasma, should teach me a lesson. We were watching "I Am Legend" BD and I had to run downstairs towards the end of the film with nobody upstairs to shut the movie off. I come back up 30 minutes later and had the title menu screen IR on the screen after shutting off the BD player. It gave me a heart attack. I just used the scrolling bar for 15 minutes and it wiped that sucker clean. I sure as hell won't do that ever again. The IR can only be seen on input screens which are blank so that is ok, but after wiping it clean with scrolling bar it all went away anyways.

That's what scares me about plasmas. My wife leaves DVD's on all the time and never turns them off.

My wife does her work out video/stepper everyday (while I'm at work) which is about 30 minutes long. The DVD is 4:3, I keep waiting for the bars to the right side to retain into the image.

Then 2 days ago when I came home from work, somehow my son (almost 2 year old) had got a hold of the remote and clicked on menu switching the TV to full menu, but some how placed it on Vivid mode which is not good for plasma's during their early life.

There are days where I think sticking with LCD would have been better just because of my situation. When we had the basement for viewing TV, the nice thing is the DLP was only on in the evening and the kids never went down there much during the day.

            Re: Plasma or LCD?

I used to constantly worry about my plasma when I first got it, but now I don't even think about it. This past summer, during the hectic couple days before getting married, we ended up leaving our plasma on overnight on a static image. I thought it was permanently burned in, but after using the color wipe and resuming normal tv usage, the image went away. After that, I realized that you REALLY have to abuse the set to get permanent burn-in.

Cz, check to see if your tv has a setting lock option. I believe your tv should have it

Sorry for the cruddy pictures, not the greatest photographer. LOL! I need to fix some of the cables better and probably lower the cable management panel a little bit more + the shelving needs to be lowered a bit too.

You know F* Best Buy. I am serious.

As some know I was in San Diego this past week for The Show Community Event.

I know BB as well as a few other stores are doing the special where you buy a Panasonic 3D TV and you get a 3D BluRay player, two extra pairs of glasses and Avatar in 3D.

Well I went in the store, ready to plop down $1800 on the VT. I asked about the promotion that they have the darn kiosk still set up and the big cardboard advertisement next to it.

                    Guess what I get?

Sales rep: "Sorry that was last week, we are not running the promotion this week."

Me: "Well I see you are still advertising it and would you be able to honor it, I was in San Diego and could not purchase it then."

Sales rep: "Sorry we can not, you will have to wait till it runs again."

In which they are clever by NOT listing details like every other store on the planet does on the giant stand ups, instead it says, "see associate or details", meaning we change at our digression to be tools, cause we can, and we know the competition is now thin.

Sales rep: "Would you like to open up a BB credit card now though, so when we run the promotion again (meaning he knows they will again and they are being sporadic fools) you can just come in and purchase it?'

Me: "F* no, I never seen a company so adamant to NOT want my $1800.00. Especially when the "promotion" just ended and you know they will run it again soon. Yet I have to wait on you, and you not wait on me? That's value for a customer."

So I was watching the Bears game today, and a Best Buy commercial comes on taking about Panny and that very damn promotion saying they are doing it still.

                    W... T... F...

I would have never made this rant, but that commercial sent me over the top.

You know, places that pay their sales rep commission I usually had a better experience (ie Tweeter), because they would bust *** to work out a package with you. This "holier than thou" crap Best Buy does and their endless BS policy structure is just that, BS.

So PC Richards here I come, Sears too. I should feel valued for spending $2 grand, not like I should feel honored to buy in their store. Which is how I feel a lot in there. Thus I need not shop in there ever again unless they have some deal I can not refuse, then again, they will probably again say, "not this week."

Wish I had a Frys on the east coast as well for more options.

                    /end rant

                      CaptainZombie, where's your FL channel?

Enigma, ask the sales rep to talk to the manager about that. Believe me, if my dad was there he'd get his way. I don't know what he says but he says the right thing. There might have been a chance to nab it somehow, I just don't know exactly what you would have had to say though lol but getting the manager would have been the first thing.

That does suck Enigma......good luck on getting the VT25.

Those interested in getting a top dollar plasma, Fry's has the Panasonic GT25 which is the 3D model for $899 this week. It's in store only and not online.

Best Buy is having this Sharp 60" LCD for $1199, which has been getting very good user reviews on AVS and a few other sites:

Oh LOL! I have a set of cleaning rags on top of it next to the PS3. I'm hoping in the next few months that I can start updating my speakers. I really want to upgrade my center channel first. I'm not sure if I want to piece each one at a time or buy them in a set like this one:

Enigma: Seeing as how 3D sets aren't selling that well, I'm surprised they couldn't have worked that out. A talk with a manager probably could have gotten you the package. Sales reps can't do that on their own.

CZ: Do you have any of that paint from your wall lying around or know exactly what color it is? You can paint your cable management piece so that it blends in with the wall. Nice setup.

Q: Looking at the pic, where is your right front speaker?

The right speaker is on the shelf to the right. I need to fix my speakers in the front. Thanks on the setup.

I bought paint a few weeks ago, I still have to paint the panel. I was trying to decide if I should lower it or not. Plus I'm ordering some new HDMI cables and 90 degree HDMI plugs since its a bit snug behind the TV.

Well in way the cable management cover does kind of match the outlet cover. I would just put a tall and wide vase on the top of the stand to hide the cables that you can see.
