We did this too...so cheap when you can have this done during construction (I think all the wires were ran for under $250 or $300. We had 5.1 ran in our family room as well (we installed in-wall/ceiling speakers for the fronts and rears, except for the center and co-ax ran for the sub) and had pairs of speaker lines ran to several other rooms of our house as well (including our back yard) with volume control boxes as well. It's cool that I can control everything from my family room. I also have a dual source/dual zone receiver, so when we have people over we can have football on in the family room and play music throughout the rest of the areas.
For the price of this compared to all of the other upgrades, I thought this was the best bargain...even though for them it was just running some extra wire, in reality it saved me hours and hours of work and trips to the attic.

I will be the first to admit, I'm beyond neat. I drive my wife nuts with it as well. You know what's funny? I usually end my night by picking up the dog toys and putting them into the bin on the left side of the room. Now my dog has started to put his toys back in the bin when he's done playing with them. It's not all the time that he does that, but sometimes.
