My Panny has that and a scrolling bar, and I assume you just leave the orbiter on.

That is why I won't buy plasma. Too much work and worry. There is something to be said about ease of use/peace of mind.

IR is not going to be something that does not happen just because of many hours of use. You must run slides or the pixel orbiter after a day of using the tv

I usually set up my tv so that when I go to bed, it runs the slides or orbiter for an hour and it automatically shuts the tv off after an hour.

I know. I was just hoping that I got one of those TV's where people say on AVS: "I fell asleep with the DVD menu on for eight hours straight, and didn't get a single hint of IR." If our plasma downstairs were any indication, aside from the 4:3 "burn-in" of the sides being slightly lighter (and only noticed if pointed out to), for all of my gaming marathons and ESPN watching on that screen, I haven't had a shred of IR there.

I actually noticed, with my TV, that after a single match in COD, there will be the slightest trail of the "60" show up. I know this because I am adjusting the HUD positioning every match. Imagine if I was watching a football game on here, or Cartoon Network or something. Maybe my TV is just really, really, really prone to this. Or maybe I have to break it in even more lol, maybe up to 1,000 hours.

People are right... TV's shouldn't need this much taking care of. It's worth having this TV, but I just need to make sure that I don't have a "melon" of sorts. I'd rather that everybody has the same buzzing and IR issues that I do, even if they don't hear/see the problems upfront.

That is why I won't buy plasma. Too much work and worry. There is something to be said about ease of use/peace of mind.

It's really not that much work, people just worry way too much and start seeing things that aren't there. I don't do any of the slide stuff or limit the kinds of content that's on the tv and I haven't had any problems so far.

I don't believe you guys are doing all this just to watch a TV. Good luck to you guys but that's crazy to have to do this as routine maintenance for a TV.

Can you imagine if you had to do this for your computer monitor? It's a bit silly to me.

What do you guys think of the Sharp LEDs? I'd like a 60" no matter what I get although 70" is tempting. Definitely don't want 3d.

I do not buy into those that say the left tv on still image for 8 hrs and saw no hint of it. They might not have explored it but it would be there. When I saw it in my tv it was not during regular tv watching. It was when running slides

When watching regular tv you cant see it as easily unless you focus hard on one spot.

You do not have to change the hud on COD, I played it all day yesterday and today and what you need to do is play on game mode when playing online to reduce input lag for accurate shooting and set the aspect ratio to 16:9 which enables burn in protection. It shifts the screen every minute or you can set it to 2 or 3 or 4 minutes.

If you put it at screen fit then you cannot enable the burn protection.

For gaming I run it on 16:9 for games only to enable the burn protection because games are the ones with static logos

What is that we are doing exactly?

All I do is when I am about to go to bed, I turn on the screen burn protection and it turns off the tv automatically after the time you set it to which can be from 15 min to 30 min or an hour.

I go to bed and the tv turns off automatically in the amount I set it to which is an hour or at times I do 30 minutes

I do not have to do this but I do it to make sure things are running smooth.

Its not a big deal

That is fine but unless you own a plasma then you would not know if it is to much work to handle one.

I had my tv for 6 months now and no issue and it blows away any lcd or led picture that I have had from Samsung and Panny.

The cell and pc are not plasma because they contain still images and picture quality is not of extreme importance on cell phones and pc's big difference

This has always been a plasma thing and not just now. But it has improved to the point that back then burn in was going to happen most likely

Today we get IR which is not going to stay on the screen. I have removed the madden image from my plasma after running slides

Now I dont get it because I run games on 16:9 to enable burn protection

I run the burn protection after am done on my own thinking since this is not required but is something I do just to be safe

If pq was the same as LED then I would not get plasma but if you want to get the excellent pq of plasma then this is something you must be aware of

If somebody does not want to deal with running the burn protection or breaking in a tv then they can always just go the safer route and get an LED or LCD and deal with the drawbacks that come with those sets which has nothing to do with maintaining it.

No extra work here. After the break-in, high contrast (65) and watch whatever I want. If I had a gaming system, I'd do that too with no hesitation.

I just got a 42 in Vizio LED. Really like it. It's a little darker than my 37 Vizio LCD but I haven't tinkered with any settings yet.
