Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
So in regards to the wide color gamut feature I am now considering this TV for about $897 (hopefully maybe a sale on it to do $800 would work for me)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...10b-20&ie=UTF8
Seems to be a pretty good TV, esp for video games

Honestly, I'd probably pass. Motion blur, and picture quality seem to be just average. It's also not very bright for a television.
If a football being thrown leaves a trail, I'd have to believe that fast moving games would cause trails as well.
At the bottom of the review, rtings says it's a hard tv to recommend.Comment

Use the compare feature I can't see why the KU7000 would be worth $300 more either.Comment

I'm looking for a TV that has a wide color gamut, HDR and trying to come in about $800 or so...any other recommendations? The H9C maybe would be good when it comes out but who knows when that is?Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

At that price range It's about trade offs. What do you value more? More colors or better picture/less blur?Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Yeah I think I'd prefer more color range as I've never been sensitive to motion blur or judder or whatnot. And my wife has an even less sensitive palate as her vision isn't the best and she had always been happy with whatever tv we use..

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Yes, I have found that to definitely be the case, LOL. We've been together for 5 years now and married for 2 years (7 years total) so we are still "new" in the sense of how to manage finances and in that sense I endeavor to keep things good.
Yeah, its funny you say that because if you look back in this thread you will see that i mentioned "planting the seed" and really have been sort of planning this for like 3 months now give or take. I do think you wear them down, LOL.
And yeah, the way I did it was to trade in a bunch of stuff (Wii, Wii U, etc) to get about $300 Amazon credit so now I am trying to get about a $500-700 tv and will only end up spending anywhere from $200-400 so that's not too bad.
My plan to get my gaming tv in my man cave, the KS8000, is to just use my tax refund. That seems to be the one thing she views as "do whatever you like with money". She spent $3000 on French doors for our back patio with her return (I would have spent about $600-700 on a "regular" door) but she was like "well it's for the house".
Well a TV is for the house too! at least the living room one is anyways, LOL
Tell her the man needs a TV. NOW GO MAKE A SANDWICH!

Yeah, you'll have more range but keep in mind that the TV isn't as bright as other sets (bottom third on the site). Might not matter as much in a dark room, but if your living is bright during the day, you might not enjoy it as much. HDR content will also be affected by this.Comment

So I'm thinking that shouldn't be a real problem where it will be mounted at.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Besides, you could always wait and it's always going to get better and better in regards to bang-for-your-buck but in the meantime you are not enjoying a new TV, right?
I cannot bear to suffer many more nights with this 1080p nonsense...*sob*

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
For sure...I just know personally that I wouldn't be in the position to upgrade in a year when you're looking for the latest shiny tv, so I need to pick and choose a bit more carefully lol...Probably not in my budget anyways, so moot point, but I get where you're coming from too...
My main issue is I keep upping the ante a little, you know what I mean right?
First it was just $500 H8C, then it was a $700 Samsung, then I find myself looking at the $999 tvs...I really need to compromise with myself and not keep escalating what I'm spending, LOL.
This is not my main man cave TV, for that I've pretty much, for now anyways, got my heart set on the Samsung KS8000. On that one, which I think is about $1500 now on sale at Best Buy, I am really going to do the sensible thing and wait. Probably until the end of the year, if not this time next year. Hopefully by then it'll be a more reasonable $1000.
But then I know I will be tempted to look at the "new and improved KS9000" or whatever, LOL!! That's the problem with waiting sometimes, with people like me anyways, the idea to wait is to save money but if you end up spending about the same amount of money anyways, you're getting better tech more than saving money...which is great, but..waiting sucks and I can only take so much of it!Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I actually am not fielding too much of this out of my own pocket though, about $325 of it is from trading in my Wii U stuff so there's that. So if I spend about $700 I'm really only paying about $375 or so out of pocket. Not too bad of a hit for a new 4K TV.
