So, it seems there's an issue with the Samsung KS8000 series (and other 2016 Samsung tvs for that matter), that will auto detect the Nintendo Switch and switch over to it's hdmi input. It usually occurs after 20 minutes but it can be longer, and it can happen frequently. It happened to me three times yesterday, once while watching Netflix and the other two times while playing the Xbox One. At this time, there is no solution, which is frustrating and annoying.

Either I wait it out and hope Samsung or Nintendo comes up with a solution, or I return this tv for something comparable. Is there another tv that is similar in quality to the Samsung?

That is an issue with the Nintendo Switch activating something that the Samsung connect box sees as an on/off command. That means it's not a Samsung issue but rather a Nintendo one. It's a wide spread problem and a known issue that Nintendo needs to fix.

And this is just my opinion but no way in heck would I return that TV, which is by far the consensus best quality TV for that price range for a known Nintendo Switch issue. If it bothers you I have seen others just buy a cheap switch and set it to the non-Nintendo (nothing connected to) port when not using your Switch.

So thinking about pulling the trigger on a 65in Hisense H8C. Moving into our new house April 14th so would be for our living room. We don't need the absolute best TV. We have a 1080p insignia in our bedroom that we are perfectly fine with. In fact the only 4k capable device we have is my One S. It's $800 at bestbuy so just curious if you guys think this is the best TV in this price range ?

It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

You're absolutely right. For now, I'll simply unplug the hdmi from the Switch dock until they find a solution. Or I'll do as you suggested. Thanks. This is a great tv. Still working on the right settings.

LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

The picture settings make all of the difference in the Sony 43x800d. I was trying to watch RAW and was sick because of the picture then I found some settings from a guy online which made it look amazing.

First thing that made a big difference was to turn off the auto wide and auto display area and set display area to full pixel. Go into picture and display then screen to get to this menu.

            Settings
            HDMI 1

            Cinema Home

            Light sensor on
            Brightness 28
            Color 53
            Live color off
            Advanced contrast off
            Black adjust off
            Contrast 90
            Gamma -1
            Black level 40
            Black adjust off
            Motion flow off
Sharpness 50 (the settings found had it at 60 but I turned to down to 50)
            Reality creation off

Watching RAW on Dish Network looked amazing with these settings. I also flipped over to MLB network a couple of times and it looked great as well watching the Cubs/Indians spring training game. ESPN looked bad while showing the women's NCAA game.

I will investigate the best settings for Original PS4 on MLB 17 tonight. Anyone with a jumpstart on those settings please post.

The rtings.com setting are way too warm for my liking and meant for a completely dark room.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

It seems like a lot of people have the Sony 43x800d. I just got this TV a few weeks ago and love it. I am very impressed with the TV and think its a great bargain for what you get. But I noticed last night that the bottom of my screen was warm/hot to the touch and the bottom of the TV (the frame) is pretty warm/hot. I had it on for about 2.5 hours last night. When I went to shut it off, I noticed the heat. I have never had that before with any TV and I am getting concerned that I may have a faulty set. Everything else is fine with the TV. Can anyone else with this set check and see if their TV is the same? Thanks!

Mine is the same way. I do not know if it matters but I love the tv so I guess I will wait til it melts. My fire stick is hot like that too before this tv.

Thanks. It must just be the way the TV is. I guess I'll deal with it too because I love everything else about it.

Maybe it's something a firmware can correct if the cpu is overheating a bit which would make it warm.

Please do. I have found some pretty good ones but would like to try others.

Edit: I saw where you posted them. Thanks.

Since HDR monitors are taking so damn long to come out, what's the best, yet smallest 4K HDR 10 option? I literally play in bed, using one of those mobile laptop/monitor stands. Something with minimal input lag too.

Wouldn't want to go any higher than 40". Can't seem to find anything. Figured I would try here.

The 40" Sony XBR43X800D is what rtings.com says is the best but get your wallet ready because its just over $2,000 for that set. You can read about other brands there as well at this URL if that's too rich for your blood..

How about the 40" VIZIO D40u-D1 40-Inch Ultra HD LED Smart TV?

It goes for a mere $560
