Going back, another reason I'm actually keeping my plasma is because of 3D. I still have 3D movies that I watch, and don't want to give those up for anything. Still want to decide whether or not I'll move somewhere that I can get a new 4K/8K projector down the line that does 3D as well.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
So from Rtings the vizio and related to the judder/studder discussion:
"6.9 Stutter
Frame Hold Time @ 24 fps
: 30.9 ms
Frame Hold Time @ 60 fps
: 5.9 ms
This Vizio P65-F1 is decent at being stutter free. There will be some stutter on slow fps content, because of the very fast response time of this TV. Most people will not notice it, but if you find that it bothers you, you can enable motion interpolation to reduce it.
7.8 24p Judder
Judder-Free 24p
: Yes
Judder-Free 24p via 60p
: No
Judder-Free 24p via 60i
: No
Judder-Free 24p via Native Apps
: Yes
The TV has an option to remove judder. This only works if the signal is 24p or if it comes through a Native App. When a 24p signal is coming through a 60p or a 60i source (like a cable box), the TV's option to remove judder does not work. In this case, to remove judder you must enable motion interpolation with a very low setting, so as to avoid potential artifacts."
my question here would be if I'm watching netflix through the xbox one x - will it deliver a true 24p signal or does the xbox handle like a cable box? What I'm interpreting from this article is that if I'm watching a movie on demand from my cable box it will deliver via it's 60i signal it will never look great, where as if I'm playing a 4k blu ray through a player that is able to deliver a true 24p signal it will look great.
It's funny because I'm actually a film-maker and shoot everything in 24p but at some point translating what I'm doing to the TV realm, a lot is lost in translation. For example I'm shooting a feature doc at 24p pro-res 444 UHD on mainly ARRI camera's. By the time editing is done and if we get it on a streaming platform - my hope is that it would ACTUALLY stream in 24p UHD 444 colour space. I don't even know how Dolby vision and HDR10 fit into the equation and also realize I have no control over how it's ultimately delivered and how people have their settings on their TV's.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
^ It may be dependent on the source, but my PS3 + television combination cannot playback a 24p source in 24 FPS unless it's a Blu-ray disc.
I have tried every other form of taking 24p material and trying to enable Cinema Smooth (the 96Hz option for my Samsung, which is the way that it plays back 24p by repeating four frames). Basically, the option is "grayed out" when I attempt to do this. I've tried importing files to my PS3, playing on YouTube/Netflix, and playing off an HTPC media server. I've also connected my laptop via HDMI, but no dice. I've even been able to rip to Blu-ray disc (don't worry, it's my own material) and play it on the PS3 and it would work, because it could decode what the source material was shot at.
So I think it's actually not dependent on the television to make it happen, but rather what device it is playing on and whether it can get the TV to recognize that it wants to play it back in that way. I know the PS3 can't do that, and apparently my PC doesn't have that ability either (I wonder if any PC that can playback in 120Hz, 144Hz, or 240Hz would be able to do this).
Anyway, my point about the motion is that even if it can play back in 24p, that doesn't mean that the nature of the hardware doesn't introduce motion that isn't appealing to me. The LED tech can't do it for me, and after seeing OLED I can't seem to accept that unfortunately either. It's just too bad too because the TV's are getting pretty good. Wouldn't mind getting that 3D too but it seems like they all want to just phase it out.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Hmmmmm.....
TCL goes big, rolls out a 75-inch 8K QLED Roku TV at CES 2019
You might only just be getting used to 4K, but the resolution ride is far from over. The proof is TCL's new 8K Roku TV which the company debuted at CES 2019. Known for producing high-quality TVs on the cheap, this new 8-series Roku TV could be the model that ushers in the 8K age.
FYI for any TCL Xbox one x guys like myself, MS and TCL are working together and last year TCL 6 series TV's will get an update to fully support Xbox One X Dolby vision.N.Y Mets

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
It is 60hz because is the same tv just bigger and the price difference from 65 inch at 950 to 75 inch is double. TV is going to be 1800 in February
Will have more zones which is great and for those that want a huge huge tv at a price they will never get one at that size, this is great
It will be awesome for gaming and watching movies.Comment
