Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Realistically speaking $600 for any 65 inch tv and you’re getting trash. At that point just get something smaller that’s way better quality.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Really not an option since I am viewing from 18' away. Isn't that much 4k content at this point anyway. Just need a larger panel in this room and wanted to know if the TV or any TV from this company would be a disappointment. Reviews I read say the sets are a decent value for the money. The features in the 5 and 6 series while nice aren't worth $300 plus more for me. I know a really good set in this size would be close to $1500 but I am not going for that.Comment

Not that much 4K content? That's absurd. You're just trying to make excuses to justify not spending as much now.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
After years of lusting after one of the LG OLEDs, I just bought a C8 to upgrade from my Samsung plasma. I’m not looking forward to having to get back into settings and **** after having all my stuff set for 7 years, but I can’t wait to see how everything looks on it.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

For 18' away, you may want to save up and wait. I'm around 15-17' away and my 75" TV isn't big enough. Really need 85 or 90. I just didn't want to pay the 85" prices as they are crazy.

The 65" has been on sale for $700-750. It is definitely an upgrade worth the price. I just setup the 55" for someone and they were amazed at a 1080i source on the series 6. It is a top TV at bargain basement price.

We would really only use it for watching movies and sports mostly so I think a projector would be cool for the kids too..
My wife gave the okay on one and then when I discussed the price she said, "I was thinking like $100 because I saw one online for $70."
Poor thing just doesn't get it.. lol.Last edited by AUChase; 02-26-2019, 01:41 PM.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I watch Netflix and my TV option is now Hulu with Live TV and there is no 4k on Hulu nor will there be in the foreseeable future. Not much on Netflix either from what I could garner on the website. The few I saw I wouldn't watch anyway.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Aside from a 4k video game console that supports the latest video game tech what medium are you using to watch television shows and movies that supports 4k? Cause my options don't.Comment

Not only that but most of the new stuff is in Dolby Vision as well. Even prime has a ton of shows in 4k.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I need a 65" TV for the bedroom. Big room currently have a 50 in there and it is tiny. BB currently has the 4 series TCL for $520. How much better are the 5 and 6 series sets? Tight budget at this point so money matters. How disappointed will I be with the 4 series TCL and is there a better under $600 option in a 65"?
Normally I'd say make sure you get a true HDR TV but depending on what you are using it for you may not even wanna bother paying the extra money for a nicer set.Comment
