LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

I've had my heart set on the 77' LG CX for a while now and over the weekend I've been 2nd guessing myself should i go down to the 65'. I feel like the 65 is the smart option even though I want the bigger size.

 77 Inch
+ I've been waiting for a few years for this day and all along wanted the biggest size
 + $ isn't a issue
+ I don't have anyone to answer to when deciding this

 - I usually sit on the end of my recliner to play games so not a huge distance away when i do that

 65 Inch
+ If I get the 65 now then in a few years I could move it into my bed room and justify buying a new TV. The '77 for my bedroom probably wouldn't fit.
 + $1,600 is still a lot $
+ I currently have a 52 so its still a big upgrade from that

 - I watch a lot of TV also so the bigger size would be more useful for that
Hell if money isn’t an issue. Buy the ZX (8K OLED) comes in at 77” at a mere $20K

Wow! Lol. Man, I've purchased the 77" CX but I had to schedule out the delivery & installation til Nov 20th. Waiting on a entertainment console to be delivered. I'm hoping my console get here before the 20th and I can reschedule my delivery to an earlier date.Xbox Series X: KILLMUNGERComment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

Are you sure about that? I thought smaller TV'S had higher pixel density. The bigger the screen, the bigger the pixels and depending how close you sit, won't look as sharp. How close are you going to be sitting?I've been reading about screen size, viewing distance, and 4K. Basically, a TV size of 77" is actually good if you want to maximize 4K, especially if you're going to be sitting pretty close to it like me. When playing games I'll be sitting 6-7 feet from the TV, when watching TV or movies 10-12 feet. So I think 77" is a good size for 4K. Also LG has something called Super Resolution to help with pixel density.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

Got my CX 55 for my little gaming space...yeah its pretty good. I have a few questions for people who've had it for a while.

What picture mode are using for streaming content? Have you tweaked any settings for the mode?

What are some good sources to test the picture quality ? I tried some YouTube 4K hdr and DV videos for a little bit and they looked pretty good.

What Motion settings are you using or do you turn it off? I don't mind it on, although I didn't play with it that long to know if it'll bother me. I couldn't tell the difference between the modes.

 Any helpful tips

I recommend having a professional calibration done. I wouldn’t just try to pop in settings you find online.

Well I know that, but you don't have to be a calibration pro to recommend a picture mode for specific content. I'll just play around with it and see what I like.

I’d do either ISF Dark or Technicolor with Filmmaker mode turned on.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

I finally pulled the trigger on the CX and went with the 65 inch. It was the smart and safe option with the $1,600 savings and still a size upgrade from my current TV. Like I said in the other post it will allow me to upgrade a few years down the line and move this one to my bedroom.

Not a bad choice at all. What are you doing for audio?

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

I'm leaning toward the Samsung HW-Q90R from reading online, but I haven't heard it in person yet. I know I want a quality one with back speakers so I'm open to suggestions. I've got to make another trip to best buy to check them out.

I also need to order me a HDMI 2.1 do you have a recommendation ?Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

The Audioquest cables are certified for a full 48 gbps. That's the stuff I use on my system. To be honest, I'm not big on the Samsung soundbars, the Q90R (a model from last year, is pretty good though).I'm leaning toward the Samsung HW-Q90R from reading online, but I haven't heard it in person yet.
