Good grief! If I were at ESPN and had the power she'd be fired long time ago.

But I probably shouldn't chastise ESPN completely. Fox was dumb enough to pick up Cowherd, and I absolutely loathe that guy. Even more then Jemele.

This is why I despise debate shows versus folks that speak intelligently about a topic. My dad watches every day Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman and despite my repeated attempts to tell him it's nonsense, he still watches it AND tries to use their arguments in our conversations.

        It's almost like torture.

I can't kill for ESPN having Michael/Jamele on that Sportscenter. They're obviously going for the African American demographic (similar to the Undefeated website they were trying to get through)...I'm not the target audience for them, so obviously i probably won't like them as much. Combine that with the fact I just am not a fan of Jamele, and it won't be my show. Michael I'm better with...

They want 3 main SC that are talk shows now. Morning will be Mike Greenberg, 6pm is Michael/Jamele, later night is SVP. Trying to jazz up Sportscenter since more people nowadays see scores and highlights on phones vs. tv. In the 2000's i'd watch SC every day...not so much now.

What in the hell? I'm gonna assume that this was just piss poorly worded.

Possibly...but can you argue that they're not targeting people with that pairing?

I read articles like this and that's what feeds my information:

Similar to how I'm not the target audience for rap music...I can appreciate the talent but the vocals and words aren't something I relate to as a middle aged white suburban guy...I have zero street cred, maybe negative even.

I rarely watch SC anymore anyways, so it's all a moot point no matter what.

It definitely could be trying to introduce new sponsorship opportunities as well.

Go listen to the local pop station and listen to the ads.
Then go to the country station and listen to the ads.
Then go to the rap/hip hop station and listen to the ads.

It just boils down to $$$

Michael/Jemele were what ESPN viewed as the best way to move forward financially, IMO.

We can let this go too, I didn't mean to take it into different directions. People were voicing off on Jamele and i felt it's valid to look into why they created that new show.

Sorry if anyone got offended, and really not trying to push buttons

I think I see what you're trying to say... You just have a poor understanding of demographics. Rap music is more for young people than for black people, and the majority of young people are white. If you think the only people into the kind of things Jemele and Michael are talking about are black, then you're not paying attention to the world you live in. You ever seen the crowd for a Waka Flocka concert? Not a lot of "street cred" in there lol.

No doubt...IMO it makes a ton of sense to do what they're doing. Stupid to just have white guys headline every SC IMO.

I watched this once and it was great...I wonder if they'll start doing highlight shows and have SC be more talk oriented? They're evolving somehow

I don't think they're necessarily going after black viewership but rather just trying a semi-social type atmosphere that is less news oriented and more of a talk show type thing to discuss the upcoming events of the evening/week. They both do have an apparent friendship and engage with each other well but that doesn't mean I find it entertaining.

I think SC realized a normal SC isn't feasible at this time slot so this is their idea...something different with folks that have a good chemistry and a show that was popular. Not sure how it's going though as I haven't researched the ratings.
