And that is what I said from the very beginning. Your "point" had nothing to do with ESPN or Mendoza or what we were talking about.
I understand that...but part of the angst that has been expressed is the idea that it takes too long to play until someone wins. I was simply pointing out that this isn't how it was always done...nothing more, nothing less.

Taking this literally, it annoys me when anchors or analysts are on TV with a sports jacket and a t-shirt.

I used to love ESPN growing up, couldn't imagine not waking up and watching sportscenter in the morning. But now... ESPN can go to hell. Despise the way ESPN is now, it's pure garbage, wish it would go under.

other than a college football GAME and the random 30 for 30, I'm not watching espn.
I think the same people who took over MTV 20 years ago are the same ones running espn now. If I had been one of those people who named my son ESPN back in the day, I'd be asking him if he wanted a new name now.
even worse, THIS is the ''good ol' days'' for some people

Actually, I think it all goes back to Howard Cosell. He was the first REALLY brash TV personality out there to the point that he was getting death threats from people because he was so annoying. His style is the granddaddy to some of the loud crazy talk you hear today from radio guys and the debate shows.

Also, I don't mind Mendoza but I couldn't possibly have the strength of feeling some people have toward her if she attacked one of my pets. Everything said about her is so dramatic, it's ridiculous. Don't need to hear her talking nonstop during the game? She doesn't do anything close to that now lol, the hyperbole is too much.
It is totally ridiculous. Folks don't think their point is strong enough without embellishing it substantially....The constant circumvention of the language filter by some and the "everything sucks and I hate everything" mentality is so trite and boring to read. It would be nice to see a cogent, rational argument for a change instead of the equivalent of "me dislike the things that me dislike."

Hell, compare her with the other ESPN "talent" out there and I don't really see who would be any better. It could always be worse--we could have the TBS crew from last year's playoffs! *shudders*
The "you've never had your hand in the dirt!!!1!1!1" people are so annoying, no offense if that applies to any of you. Do you delegitimize movie critics because they were never an actor/actress?

It's no different than when people talk about other folks who do color or play-by-play. Can't have an NBA thread without people trashing Reggie Miller, Webber, JVG and Mark Jackson. Any discussion on the World Series will inevitably turn into a conversation on how trash Joe Buck is. Altho the hate for Tim McCarver was even worse than that. I personally think that current TBS booth with EJ is the worst. People thought Madden was garbage. Etc etc. People always gonna bring the hyperbole with that stuff.
