Yeah. In 2017 no one cares about or has time for long-form Sportscenter segments with SVP. No wonder he's mad. ESPN's expertise (aside from live sports) is daytime opinion shows and quick highlight packages on ESPNews. For everything else people can go to MLB Network, NBA TV and NFL Network.

It's been pretty well documented where they are headed since May.

Settled what lol? Didn't know it was a debate.

We've known for months that starting in January Greenberg is going to have his own show and Golic will continue on the morning show with Wingo and his son.

Maybe I didn't mean "settled," but rather glad everyone is now up to speed.

And who's "we?" I had no idea of that. I just knew their show was going to finish its run at the end of the year, only little did I find out listening to them driving up to school this morning they were mentioning their "final hour together." I also didn't know if they were going to stay on ESPN or not.

Since the mention about Mike & Mike's toxic relationship, there was not a single post that stated where they were heading. I don't read every link either. I guess there were posts about it before that. I clearly was not involved in that discussion at the time.

I'm sorry, that's my bad. Maybe that was a bit presumptuous of me but I haven't listened to their show in years and even I knew it was ending and where they were going. It wasn't really kept a secret as to the end and what they were doing afterwards.

I don't think it was discussed here and based on other stories you've shared I didn't think you only got your news from what was shared here on OS.

Man, I'm not the hugest fan of Jemele Hill, but I would rather she stay with ESPN and do her sports talk thing than do some pedantic, partisan political show on cable news. Maybe she can do something for Outside The Lines if she wants to make a difference outside of the usual sports talk realm. Political talk ruins people.

Eh, I think it's a stretch to say political talk ruins people. There are a lot of very credible people who make a living talking politics and they have a pretty solid reputation. It only ruins those who are only out to make a name for themselves. That being said, I agree with you that I don't think going to a cable news network would be for Hill in the long term. She strikes me as someone who loves sports but has a social conscience. It's why she has gone out and said the things she has. That being said, I think she needs to find a way to marry sports with her social and political awareness. Unfortunately, if she does that at ESPN the ignorants out there will scream about ESPN being all SJW crap.

It's a real no-win situation in this regard. It's a shame though as I think she has plenty to say and offers an insight that at the very least should be listened to with an open ear. It's just that the environment today is too toxic for that.

Jamelle Hill is national star? Yeah, ok.

Also... $80MM in salary and "other costs". That is a huge amount of money to cut. Surely salaries don't add up to even half of that?

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

I think it's more about the lost revenue than anything.

ESPN lost a whopping $1 billion in affiliate revenue after dropping 13 million subscribers in just six years, according to the SportsBusiness Journal. Sports insiders agree ESPN overpaid for the NFL's "Monday Night Football" ($1.9 billion annually) and the NBA ($1.4 billion a year). During 2016, ESPN's prime-time viewership fell 19 percent, according to the SBJ. Rather than driving Disney's profits, ESPN has been dragging them down, spooking Wall Street analysts.
